Still...

Feb 9, 1999, 1:32pm
Reading it again . . .. seriously, i can offer graphical expertise, and
*alot* of web space and server space for something like this if anyone
wants it look into it as a bot project, so, now that that part of it is
figured, lets go !!

I love that kind of thing, and think it would be very very cool to
incorporate into an AW style....from what i can see, with the source
available, yeah, it would be alot of work, but alot less than doing one
from scratch . .and, this one has been play tested to death as well . . .

bot idea

Mar 13, 1999, 4:56pm
hay, i ahve a bot idea - how about,y uo create a bot that reads from a
list of words, and when soemone says one of those words , you could have
it eject a person for 60 minutes !!! We could call it the CensorBot.

you know, words you could include could be all those offensive ones,
like. . .community, love, neighbour, help, friend, understanding,
tolerance, equality, adulthood and god forbid, the biggy, communication
!!

oh, what was that you say ? They already HAVE created a bot like that ?
And called it Customs Aide ??

damn . ..looks like someone stole my idea.

SDK Library now the AW APP Resource library

Nov 7, 1998, 8:42am
I jsut registered this site with come.to, so, you can type in a shorter URL
to get there, the alternate URL is

http://come.to/awapps

Nobody has started populating the database yet, so I might have to begin
doing it myself =/ . . . i didnt want to do this mainly because I may not
have all the information about the different programs correct, but I want to
get this moving . . . . ..

Go populate the database =P

Another movement you should think about doing . ..tho, it might be a hard
one, you need one that makes the ball get kicked into the air, then
descends again . ..it could be a fixed kick distance....this would add
heaps to the game, ie. kicking over peoples heads and such . ..

tho, you might want to make this a harder "action" to use somehow. . . .

If you want this feature, you can program it with a bot - why does it need
to be added to our features when we already have an existing mechanism for
citizens to do such a thing if they do so wish to?

The SDK was designed so that if you wanted to do this kind of thng, you
could - and this wouldnt be hard to do with the SDK at all - so program it
up and let me know how it goes, I'll come have a look at it when you are
done =)

No, I understand, if you want to change a backdrop in a world by clicking,
you can do it if you purcahse the world and program a bot. There wont as far
as I know, ever be a feature to change someone elses backdrop, in a world
that does not belong to them.

capture and animalia

Apr 30, 1998, 2:20am
hehehe, okay, you know what I really want ? I dont even think this is
really possible, but it's a damn nice little idea. Im constantly
frustrated by having to use applications such as paintshop to capture
images off the AW screen, it would be really nice is you were able to
take a snapshot (say to a jpg) of the window, from within the actual
browser, say, to take the rendered image you see and actually convert it
into a 2d flat image . ... and, this is the main thrust for my idea,
wouldnt it be great, if along with that "stillshot" function, you could
enable a "capture to avi" the rendered scenes . thu creating a movie of
the event.. you could even have a side capture of the text conversation.
I've always always been looking for an external app that does this, that
does an actual screen capture at a rate of at least 24 frames a second,
and then is able to save it to an avi . . i dont know if one is in
existance. This way,a long with the actual text captures, you could make
historic recordings of events,. and, with the new Generation 2 Real
technology, you could even encode that avi capture to a live stream, and
broadcast the event in AW to a potentially huge user base, or add your
own soundtrack to it. Hell, you could even make one of the worlds first
PURE VR documentaries . ... mmmm... think about it, iI hope some of you
can get the gist of what im talking about,

The other main point. . . cmon Roland, we need wildlife and animals in
AW, make oit a priority for a future implementation, it's not totally
hard from what i know, it'll jsut take a little time, but, the rewards
will be worth it.
