that's easy:

AW is a 655 km square
area is 655000 * 655000 meters = 429025000000 m2
surface area of a sphere is 4 pi r2
so:
pi r2 = 107256250000
r2 = 34140724730
r = 184772,0886119 meters

Lets say you are 1.80 meters tall, add 1.80 to that radius.
The tangent to the circle of the smaller radius (the world radius) is one
side of a right triangle
with the longer radius (World radius + body lenght) as the hypotenuse.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

do the math, the horizon would be 815,5846 meters away.

just a clarification: your line of sight to the horizon would have the
length of 815,5846 m (in fact you would have to be taller than 1.80 meters
or have your eyes on the top of your head). To calculate the distance you
would have to walk to the horizon, you have to calculate the angle between
the two radii and then do an calculation on the lenght of the circular arc.
Formula if angle A is in degrees is: A (PI/180) r .(r = World radius)

I'm too lazy to do the math now, hehe.

Bug in World Server build 43

From my expirience it makes quite a difference. I built a huge thing in
TheBeans and all objects had a create name on it. It got quite laggy. When I
replaced the objects with pretextured ones I got a noticeable increase in
framerate. That's why TheBeans gz is relatively lag free :)

What happend? I had the impression you enjoyed AW very much just a few weeks
ago.

Does anyone know anything about where maki went? He's been missing for the
last 4 weeks or so. Totally abnormal for him. I am deeply worried. If you
have his email adress or know anything about his absence please send the

Can we get an explanation on AWmapper?

YAY the mapper page is up again. This feature was what attracted me to AW in
the first place. I love maps, I loved to explore Alphaworld with the help of
the mapper. Now, can we hope to get, after one year delay or so, a new
update?

Not just a normal building contest - this is where the big prizes can be
won:

1st place: 1 year cit renewal _and_ a P30-5 world with free hosting for one
year (including a free cit)
2nd - 3rd place: 1 year cit renewal or a P20 world with free hosting for one
year.
4th-6th place: 6 month cit renewal
7th-12th place: 3 month cit renewal

Rules are easy: Go to the building contest area in world TheBeans in the
vicinity of 150N 50E, locate a free building contest lot (with a sign next
to it), build something, win a nice prize :D

Only one build per account..

Deadline is December 24th, 2003.

Excuse me for jumping in, but where's the intercultural conflict with SWE?
He's more american than most of the americans I know. His thought process
is, as he proves with his post, rather simple: give me money. His goals are
quite similar to any average US teenager: sex, cell phones, video games,
sex, cars, and ... did I mention sex already?

I really wish he would be different LOL :p ;)
