My WishList...

Jan 29, 2002, 1:56am
I wish...
- there was no limit to privately-owned world size, especially for =
worlds not being hosted on AWC servers... all worlds should be the size =
of AlphaWorld and there should only be one world price, preferably a low =
price. Worlds that are not hosted on AWC servers don't use up much AW =
bandwidth, so why should larger worlds on independent hosts cost more? =
It doesn't cost AWC any more to provide the heartbeat for a large world =
than it does for a small world.

- citizenships were still free.

- the concept of "community" included everyone. The less fortunate =
souls who were with us and using v2.2 are now gone from our midst. =
People like to think they are doing something for the "community" when =
they are really doing things for themselves and their small group of =
friends,... and outsiders, the less fortunate, or the newbies are often =
shunned or made to feel that their input is not welcome. I've been =
around the 'net for a while, and I still remember a time when the =
internet was considered the Last Frontier... a place where people shared =
their skills and knowledge for the betterment of the technology, and to =
promote a real sense of community but without all the headaches of =
government (which is what we were actually trying to get away from), and =
the rules and regulations, etc., and people weren't just in it to get =
rich quick or to assume some kind of perceived power and control over =
others. Too often I've seen groups form, announcements of such groups =
being formed, only to go to the posted website(s) or the first =
organizational meeting to find that all of the so-called leaders had =
already been self-appointed, the agenda had already been decided, etc. =
It often reminds me of high school, or like when little kids form a =
clubhouse and only the COOL kids are allowed to join. You can often =
tell this kind of group is forming when the *Rules* are already written, =
and people have been appointed as *security*. I guess the insecure need =
to have security.

- people weren't so picky about spelling and grammar on these boards. =
We aren't getting graded on how well we write, the whole point of these =
boards is to share ideas and exchange knowledge and information, etc. =
If people feel they are being judged on how well (or how poorly) their =
written skills are, they are less likely to continue to post in these =
newsgroups. I've also noticed that the most vocal spelling and grammar =
correctors often have errors in their own messages... if you are not =
perfect, don't be so picky or whine at others who do not write =
perfectly... that makes you look like a hypocrite if you do that.

I'll probably get flamed for this post, but I don't care. It's my =
wishlist, and I can wish for what I want to... today I can, anyway... =
maybe not tomorrow.

Today's subliminal thought is:

My WishList...

Jan 30, 2002, 2:40pm
[View Quote] A world the size of AlphaWorld takes no more "box" power than any other =
world. Storage space and X amount of bandwidth per month on a remote =
host to run the world, yes, but in that case, a world owner would be =
limited from building beyond his/her willingness to pay for bandwidth =
and storage capacity. In other words, just because you have the space, =
doesn't mean you HAVE TO fill it up. And yes, it's all a money game... =
jack up prices for something that costs you nothing, as MacB illustrated =
in his post. =20

As far as income goes, AWC makes no income from AWC-owned worlds, such =
as Alpha or Mars or Yellow. In fact, those worlds COST them money, so =
does the Educational Universe (generically speaking) and it's worlds. =
If money were the sole motivating force behind the recent changes (and =
perhaps it is), wouldn't it make more sense to eliminate the things that =
are costing you money every month and which are not producing income? =
Makes sense, right? So why does AWC continue to keep these non-viable =
worlds and universes running? Sentimental reasons? =20

If citizenships are a viable source of income, why make these drastic =
changes in citizenship pricing which will discourage people from buying =
new citizenships or renewing old ones? Eliminating tourists... I can =
see both sides to the reasoning behind this -- they are a drain on =
resources and produce no immediate income, but, on the other hand, most =
citizens started out as tourists (I know *I* did), and having tourists =
is like having a gateway through which you attract people into buying =
citizenships and becoming actively involved in ActiveWorlds, and thus, =
having Tourists is a long-term income producer but not an immediate =
income producer. If you want to sell more citizenships, you don't jack =
the price up 500+% and in doing so, discourage people from buying them. =

It's advertising, forming key partnerships with other related =
corporations (B2B), and marketing your product from one end of the 'net =
to the other that will produce income. Right now, we have over 1700+ =
worlds and 95% of them have NO USERS in them at any given time. Do you =
think this encourages people to buy a world when there are so many =
worlds already there with no users? Come this time next year, if =
something regarding these new citizenship prices doesn't change =
drastically, there will be even LESS users in all those worlds. This is =
income-producing and is perceived as a way to "save the company"? =20
=20
>=20
> Ditto as cozmo said.

Sorry to disagree, but I believe that the day they started charging for =
citizenships (and thus, dividing up the "community" into Tourists and =
Citizens) was the day the downward spiral of finances began. That =
"divide and conquer" mentality continued with the forming of the PK's =
and GK's and the entire hierarchy and pecking order that came from all =
of that. =20
=20
>=20
> ?????

It doesn't include everyone... that's the reality of the situation. If =
you think it does, then likely, you are a part of the problem. If this =
program is a "community," then the "community" would have a voice in =
what the corporation decides to do. It doesn't. Even among the smaller =
groups within the "community" (beta testers? cy awards? avvies?) there =
are usually no more than half a dozen people making all the decisions =
and rules/regulations for that group, and deciding who should and =
shouldn't belong. It isn't like there is a random lottery system in =
place, nor even an unbiased voting booth.
=20
> - people weren't so picky about spelling and grammar <snip>
>=20
> no I can't talk perfect english, but part of the reason some people =
are
> picky is because half the time you can't understand what people are =
saying
> because of their broken english.

The biggest problem I see is that many people who live in the United =
States think that everyone in the world should act like and conform to =
the expectations of U.S. people. We are very U.S.-centric here, and we =
have to get out of that mode of thinking. Face it, we live in a world =
of diverse people who may be coming into this program from Russia, =
China, Zimbabwe, Korea, etc. They don't all have English as a first =
language, and they should be admired and respected for even attempting =
to communicate in our language, not put down and belittled because they =
have trouble communicating in writing their thoughts and ideas to us.
=20
> wishlist, and I can wish for what I want to... today I can, anyway... =

I try not to flame, for the most part (though sometimes that can't be =
helped, depending on the level of idiocy I'm dealing with at the time. =
hehe) I enjoy debate, though, and I try to encourage people to voice =
their thoughts

The analogy doesn't apply in this case because the government/AWC =
already owns your house in their worlds. They can do whatever they like =
to your house, it is not your legal property. This is one of the =
fallacies that a lot of people apparently seem to buy into, that what =
they create in a world (any world, unless you are the world owner of =
that world) somehow *belongs* to you. Not true... building does not =
confer any sort of ownership or legal rights to the builder. Now, there =
*might* be a case for the ownership of intellectual property (how you =
put together AWC's models into a specific build), but this would need to =
be taken into the court systems and tried, and I don't see that =
happening any time soon.

Tourist enabled worlds

Ok, I have a question, which I attempted to ask today at the Gate and =
almost got ejected for (they said I was ensuing a debate, which is =
almost as bad a catch word as terrorism is these days)...

AWSingles is open to tourists. =20
AWSingles is owned by AWC, not privately owned.
Doesn't having AWSingles open to tourists go against the "new policy" =
that the rest of the universe's world owners have to comply with? =
AWSingles was not on the original list in the letter from Rick regarding =
the new pricing and new policies. =20
How do they reconcile that?

From 2.2 to 3.2 on an antique machine...

Oct 2, 2001, 6:32am
I went from 2.2 to 3.2. A lot of things don't seem to work right for =
me. Admittedly, I have an old computer system, but at this point in =
time I cannot replace it with a new one. My video driver is as up to =
date as I can get it. I'm running a P-1 166MHz with no MMX, 64MB RAM, =
2MB video RAM, W95, IE 5.5, DirectX 8.0.

- Cell grid appears to be invisible in software render mode. Found out =
last night that on my computer with my OEM video card (S3 Virge on an HP =
Pavilion 7270), it is actually there, but it is black and invisible =
under most conditions. The same is true of the object selection =
highlighting, it is also black and nearly invisible in software render =
mode. However, I can see both perfectly fine while running in DirectX =
mode (unfortunately, FPS suffers severely in that mode, and the entire =
computer slows down to a snail's pace). =20

- A related problem to the one above (at least, I think they're related) =
is that for me, Create Color does not work properly in software render =
mode. It doesn't matter what color I try to create, it renders in =
black/white/shades of gray, even though colored textures work just fine. =
In addition, pp16.rwx and any other glass piece renders as a very dark =
smoky glass, almost black.

BTW, I haven't run into anyone else that has these problems yet, so =
yeah, it's probably just my antique computer system, but it's all I've =
got.=20

- Midis restart themselves if teleporting in between two objects that =
have the identical midi playing, rather than continuous play... that's =
irritating. The listening radius of a Create Sound midi is much too =
small... walk a little ways away and you can't hear it at all.

- Teleports seem faster than with v2.2, but the teleport .wav file seems =
to lag quite a bit.

- The update file from 2.2 to 3.2 was missing a vital =
open-something-or-other.dll file to be able to run it in OpenGL mode. =
Trying to open AW in that mode crashed my machine, and I was prompted to =
re-download the entire browser, which turned out to be unnecessary... =
luckily I had copied the activeworlds.ini file into another directory =
prior to trying OpenGL mode, and the fix was a simple copy/paste of the =
original .ini file back into the AW directory.

- Fog seems to be more like shadows than fog. =20

- Documentation and Help files (in all versions of AW) could stand some =
improvement. In particular, the Command helpfiles, and info about =
skyboxes in 3.2.

My dear kind Mr.. eep,

You don't know me, but I've somewhat gotten to know you through these =
newsgroups and your website, and I've seen you in the world I normally =
hang out in once or twice, too. I actually thought, eep, that your =
opinions about AW and it's so-called "community" were pretty much in =
line with my own, but now... after that comment...

For you to suggest and advocate violence in the form of a shooting of =
little old me simply because I do not have the funds to upgrade my =
antique computer system is not only unsympathetic towards the poorer =
segment of people online, but also shows your lack of a basic grasp of =
the realities of offline life. There are some people in the world who =
cannot afford to be online at all. Does that make those people unworthy =
or in any way less important than yourself? I think not, and I also =
think you and many other people online need a Reality Check.=20

Not all of us are wealthy enough to continually upgrade our computers as =
we KNOW they should be upgraded (it is not a lack of tech knowledge nor =
desire that prevents us from keeping current with technology), we must =
first see to the basic needs of life, such as food, clothing, and =
shelter. In my own case, I am lucky to even be online at all, =
considering my own current economic situation. =20

If you are in a position to be able to actually help me to get a newer =
computer (perhaps you have one you'd be willing to donate? or perhaps =
you have an exhaustive supply of parts I could use to build one?), by =
all means, write to me and we can work out the details, otherwise, =
please keep your judgments about poorer people and what should be done =
to them to yourself. Otherwise, it only makes you look like a bourgeois =
jerk, and there are plenty of those in America who have done their part =
in making the rest of the world see us as Ugly Americans.

Thank you, and have a nice day. *flips a finger skyward*

So, tell me, Mr. eep, just how much time, money, or computer hardware =
did you donate to your local public library, or your local public school =

As far as evolution goes, I'm certainly way ahead of you on that score, =
Mr. eep. *winks*

There aren't many people around who could keep a P166 with W95v.1 =
running for 5 years and running the latest software on it. Obviously I =

Re: Why We War (was Re: Bin Laden's Special Song)

Oct 30, 2001, 2:19pm
If you'll do a little investigating, you'll find out that many of Bin =
Laden's speeches/messages to the world have something to do with =
something that occurred back in 1921, as he keeps saying they've been =
under the yoke of American imperialism for 80 years. What that refers =
to, I'm not exactly sure, but it would have been during the presidency =
of Warren G. Harding, so apparently the recent terrorist actions have =
roots that reach back a long way. What any of that has to do with Bin =
Laden, who was not alive during that time, is anyone's guess. One of =
the really weird things about Bin Laden is that almost all of his =
immediate family (who are fairly well-off and very well educated) =
resides right here in the U.S. They've long ago disowned this fellow =
from their family, and condemned his actions on numerous occasions, but, =
as you can imagine, his actions have made their lives a living hell as =
well. And no, I'm not forgetting the suffering and loss of the people =
whose relatives were on those planes or in those buildings that were =
destroyed in NY, DC, and Philadelphia. I know that they, too, continue =
to suffer and mourn the deaths of their friends and relatives, and that =
they, above everyone else, deserve to see justice done with regards to =
the terrorists who perpetrate these sorts of incidents.

As far as prisons, the courts, and the death penalty goes... the =
European Union has, as a body, unanimously condemned the death penalty =
as a punishment for any sort of crime. They seem to have trouble =
understanding why we here in the United States have no trouble with =
keeping the death penalty as a punishment. To their way of thinking, =
we're supposed to be one of the more advanced-thinking countries, and =
yet we continue to perpetuate what they consider a backward mentality. =
Our use of the death penalty puts us on a list of countries that =
includes Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, etc. Is that the sort of =
company we wish to keep? *shrugs* Russia is currently at the top of =
the list of countries that routinely use the death penalty, the sheer =
numbers of prisoners killed there is outrageous, and yet our own numbers =
of prisoners, our increasing numbers of prisons, and our use of the =
death penalty will shortly rival theirs. Has this method of dealing =
with crime and criminals been very effective? I'm not certain it has, =
and I have no idea what method would work better, but it seems to me =
that what we're currently doing isn't going to lead us into a world =
where we can "all just get along." =20

Re: Why We War (was Re: Bin Laden's Special Song)

Oct 30, 2001, 7:35pm
This may help:
http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/comment-robbins100801.shtml

It gives some background information about the goings on of 1921, it =
also explains fairly well "Why We War" (which is the topic of this =
thread).

What do I think? I think many (note, I did not say ALL) Americans are =
completely unaware of anything that goes on outside their front doors, =
they rely on what they see on television, in the newspapers (if they =
bother to read those), and they desire to be spoon-fed pabulum by the =
mass media (who doesn't, btw, tell us everything, they only tell us what =
stories they think will Sell). What Sells is not reality, what Sells is =
entertainment. =20

Do you remember the Nirvana song "Smells Like Teen Spirit"? In it Kurt =
Cobain is expressing this idea that we Americans do not actually take =
the time to understand and absorb the feelings and ideas that are =
important, but that Generation X has numbed itself to what is really =
going on in the world. He strove as an artist to wake people up to =
Really Living, to Feel with their hearts and minds, instead of accepting =
that spoon-feeding. The song was a statement... "here we are now / =
entertain us". Because he could not reach through that numbness and =
make us see clearly the reality of the situation, he became despondent =
and he killed himself. That's what that was about. And that's what my =
post was also about.... trying to make people see things for themselves.

What do I think? As a former "warrior" and disabled vet, I think war =
should be the very last choice a nation should make and, only after all =
attempts to resolve a problem have failed should it be undertaken, and =
then it should be undertaken for very good reasons (and not just =
retribution) and then a full-out, full-bore war should be fought until =
the situation is resolved. I think the media and the politicians have =
attempted to paint the picture that part of the reason that we are now =
in this war against Terrorism is for humanitarian reasons... human =
rights, for example. Clearly, that is not a motive for this war. =20

A look back over just the past ten years of the history of Afghanistan =
will show you that the Taliban was put into place with U.S. money, aid, =
and arms, streamed through Pakistan, because we thought the Northern =
Alliance (who was the previous government) needed to be ousted from =
power. Russia has everything to do with what is going on in Afghanistan =
today, and from what I've been reading, they've already made a deal with =
the Northern Alliance to build a post-war oil pipeline right through =
Afghanistan to secure themselves a mideast oil supply. Look into that. =
Look into what the real motivations for this war are. Don't ask to be =
entertained.

It means:=20
- that the statistics back up my assertion that instead of progressing =
as an advanced-thinking nation, we are actually doing just the opposite, =
=20
- that despite many Americans' impressions of their own country as the =
most moral, humanitarian, democratically free nation on earth, the facts =

There's a few things you can do...

- Register with all the major search engines. Don't pay to do this, =
there are ways of doing it for free.
- If you don't mind banner ads, join a link exchange program. Do =
thorough research before you actually join any.
- Join webrings that are relevant to your site's purpose and audience.
- Join in and participate in newsgroups and mailing lists that are =
related to your site's content.
- Make an email signature file that promotes your website with a link in =
it. Every outgoing email then becomes site promotion (but don't overdo =
this, only make it a two line signature - MAX.)
- Include interactivity on your site so users will keep returning to =
your site. Some examples - polls, message boards, mailing lists, =
contests, awards, etc.
- Include some freebies. Some examples - downloadable fonts, =
screensavers, mp3s, Flash movies, website =
graphics/backgrounds/clipart/desktop wallpaper, etc. You are only =
limited by your imagination here, and always be the legal copyright =
holder of anything you give away so that you don't have legal issues to =
deal with.
- Keep your content fresh. Watch your site statistics. Example - if =
your users come there searching for lyrics, you might want to consider =
adding lyrics to your site.

[View Quote] I agree with that wholeheartedly.

> I thought you hired a marketing person. Why aren't they generating =
advertising revenue?

Good question. AWC has had YEARS to get this part of it right, but all =
I've seen is one expensive mistake after another. I don't personally =
know the marketing person they've hired, but generally speaking, most =
marketing types know what they are doing (they have to, it's a =
competitive field), so I have to wonder: Are the marketing person's =
efforts being hampered by the decisions of upper management? If so, =
then upper management needs to back off and let the marketing person do =
their job the right way, without upper management interference. That is =
what they were hired to do, so let them do their job. It is the =
marketing person's job to create the company image, to promote that =
image, to enhance that image, to work with the financial officers to =
seek investors and partnerships and work with those partners in a =
mutually beneficial environment (in marketing, AWC and it's partners =
could ALL benefit from this person's efforts, but they need to let this =
person do their job), to work with upper management in planning the =
future growth and development of the corporation and the product - but =
to do that, upper management needs to give the marketing person a voice =
in the decision making processes, and upper management needs to learn to =
listen to what the marketing person is recommending, as well as listen =
to it's long-time users, builders, modelers, and content developers. =20

Up to the present time, I don't believe that that is what upper =
management has been doing. They have been making decisions from *on =
high* and forcefully pushing their own agendas... and look where it's =
gotten them. They need to realize that their old model of doing =
business will not lead them to future success, but to failure and =
bankruptcy of the corporation. They need to be willing to really listen =
to new ideas, really listen to the needs of the users and world owners =
and other content developers... not just give lip service to the =
concerns raised by them. =20

Marketers do not just market to people outside the corporation, they =
must also have their ears and eyes open to what the end users, world =
owners, and other content developers are saying and doing. Any =
marketing expert can tell you that Word of Mouth is the absolutely BEST =
way to promote a product or service (and the least expensive way, too). =
If the users, world owners, and content developers are unhappy, you can =
bet your bottom dollar they are talking about it and telling others of =
their dissatisfaction... and that is NOT the kind of marketing AWC needs =
right now.

Part of the problem, too, is that some of the users have been quite =
nasty in their correspondence with AWC management. These are business =
people we are dealing with, not creative artistic types, so we, as users =
and world owners, need to address them in ways that they can relate to, =
and you (Casay) have done so in this post. We need others to be able to =
write such posts and letters clearly, concisely stating what they think =
needs to be done to make AWC a success in the future... and to do it in =
a polite, business-like way as if you were addressing the Board of =
Directors (which you are), not snarling and swearing at people like an =
armed angry mob. If you were upper management, would you listen to the =
angry mob types? Not likely.

> I'd think because your user total at any given time is low, too low to =

True, which is why I think the marketing person's efforts have been =
hampered by upper management. Either that, or the marketing person they =
hired does not know how to do marketing (I don't really think that, but =
I'm not in a position to be able to determine what efforts this person =
has proposed, and which have been approved or rejected).

> Games, games, games and more games!!!!!!! Umm contact Hasbro!!!! ;-)

YES YES YES!!!! You want to talk gaming? How about some decent prizes =
for some of the games they already have? If AWC could establish =
partnerships with the right companies, they could give away some really =
GOOD prizes, which would, in turn, attract more users (and more =
corporate partners), increase user participation in the games they =
already offer, and word of mouth promotion about how great the prizes =
are would spread from one end of the net to the other. How many people =
would be willing to go into AWBingo if they knew they had a chance to =
win a free copy of Caligari TrueSpace, or Adobe Photoshop, or Painter, =
or ZBrush, or a Nomad Jukebox, or a Palm Pilot, or a 5.1 surround =
speaker system, or a Wacom Intuos2 graphics tablet, etc.? I would, for =
sure!! [And if they need more ideas along those lines, hey, marketing =
person, contact me. I'm sure we could work something out.] =20

How do they attract corporate partners to get those prizes to give away =
at the games? First off, create a world and invite the best modelers, =
builders, and content developers (website designers, music afficianados, =
etc.) into it (AW should know who they are, they give away Cy Awards =
every year, right?). Let those expert users build an AWC showcase world =
to show these prospective corporate partners what is possible in =
activeworlds. Allow these modelers and builders and content providers =
to display their contact information so that they can get subcontracts =
from the new corporate partners. THEN, have the AWC marketing person =
make appointments with the people in those corporations who have the =
authority to make partnerships, and actually bring them into the =
"Showcase World," as well as into some of the best, most fully-developed =
worlds within activeworlds (not just AW-owned worlds, but privately =
owned worlds, too); describe what's been done and by whom; describe what =
possibilities they can foresee for promoting those corporate partners, =
if only they had their own world here in activeworlds, right?; promote =
the modelers and world builders and content providers (hey, wouldn't =
some of you like to get subcontracts for some of those corporate =
worlds???)... and sell those corporations their own worlds and the =
hosting services to go with those worlds! Show them how activeworlds =
could benefit their corporation, show them the tools that a 3-D world =
can offer that no 2-D website can even come close to. Sell them =
advertising in key areas within alphaworld and awgate, sell them ad =
space in the building yards and at the AWSchool world, sell them =
advertising on the website, and how about a text ad at the bottom of the =
AW newsletter every month? Make reciprocal agreements with those =
corporate partners so that they carry prominent ads for AWC on their =
products and on their websites (and make sure the AWC ads are not buried =
on page 126 of those sites, but on the front page!). =20

AWC, are you listening?

Once they got that part right, then they could start thinking about more =
games with more sophisticated interfaces, and even BETTER prizes. =
Wouldn't it be kewl to go on a treasure hunt and find an all expense =
paid trip to St. Thomas, or even to the AW Reunion in Vegas (or =
wherever)? Get the new corporate partners to use their marketing people =
to attract even bigger crowds of users. The snowball effect would catch =
on in a hurry. AWC would have more money for research and development, =
marketing and promotion, infrastructure and upgraded equipment, and =
eventually they wouldn't have to charge anything at all for =
citizenships.

Marketing Ideas (repost from new citizenship so it will be seen)

Jan 4, 2002, 12:52am
Who is the person in charge of marketing? Have any of the world owners =
met this person or had them come into their worlds? Has the marketing =
person spent any time learning how to build, so that they know what =
kinds of things are possible within the program, and can then formulate =
ways in which the program or advertising could be marketed to =
prospective partner corporations? Have they learned how to create a =
simple 3-D model so they know what is involved in creating objects for =
use within the program? Does the marketing person have any idea of what =
software programs modelers, artists, musicians, web designers, etc. use =
to create the worlds? All of that information would be essential for a =
marketing person to know, so that they know which corporations to =
approach for advertising revenue. =20

Here is a list of prospective advertisers and corporate partnerships =
which the marketing person could be focusing on:

Entertainment, MagiCastle, Maxis, Pulse Entertainment, Square =
(Squaresoft), Zombie Virtual Reality Entertainment, Experimental Object =
Technologies, Fourth Planet Inc., Satori, ULead, Xara, Lightscape =
Technologies Inc., LightWork Design, Paraform, McDonnell-Douglas, =
Boeing, NASA, Ford, Daimler-Chrysler, General Motors Corp., MP3.com, =
Amazon.com,... and the list goes on and on and on. And that was only a =
fifteen minute search.

Some of those game companies could be helpful in developing 3D games for =
AWC, or perhaps they would like to donate prizes, or perhaps they would =
like to have their characters made into avatars for use in various =
worlds. What about the entertainment industry? - movie studios, music & =
recording industry, Disney, Six Flags, etc.? They don't all need to buy =
a world, though that would be a prime selling point... there are also =
custom avatars, advertising space, webpages (for example, you could play =
pogo games in POGOWORLD on the webpage, but have chat in the rest of the =
window so that players could talk to each other in realtime.) National =
Geographic World could consist of the Seven Wonders of the World in 3D =
while it's webpage shows some historical articles, maps, etc. The =
possibilities are endless, really... all it takes is a little =
imagination and figuring out ways to work in partnership with these =
companies. =20

I've got XP... graphics aren't ruined... perhaps it's the combination of =
XP with whatever video card is being used?

Renew citizenship page

Jan 5, 2002, 5:34pm
Not true. =20

Since I couldn't find the Renew page and couldn't get the Renew button =
to pop up on my browser, I wrote to support at activeworlds.com and was =
able to renew it via email and a credit card this morning, but they also =
offered me the phone number option.

BTW, you can renew before the "early Feb" deadline and add a year to =
your account for the $19.95 rate, provided you haven't renewed recently. =
I now have 13 months before I need to make any decisions about leaving =
activeworlds. =20

For now, I am willing to wait and see, and $19.95 is not too much to pay =
to see whether the improvements to 3.3 are worth it, or whether the Plan =
to Save the Company will pan out. =20

I do wish, however, that someone from *on high* would read and respond =
to some of the marketing ideas I offered. There's more where those came =
from. *grins*

*munches on popcorn and watches from the sidelines*
