In his last post, Roman said about two weeks for 7.1 and Vray 1.0. That was about a week ago so unless it is delayed, you are looking at about a week from now.....;)

Progress on both is very good but only Roman can confirm the final date..

What, no more 3D recordings? No one wants their own shared space?:)

Alas, I have but 6.6 and no funds for the upgrade. Also being stuck with dial-up connection for who knows how much longer, would I be able to effectively use it?

Well I've got one, but the problem is it's about 6 MB so I'm not able to
attach it.

For best results select the camera before pressing play. Also set Speed of Replay to low.

Thanks to Délé for his Triggered Loop script.

Wow, talk about insignificance. I hope my words haven't marked me as someone to be ignored on this
BBS. I’m pretty sure the naysayers and trolls get more attention than this. Would someone like to post
a comment, even to say it looks crappy or I’m not interested or can’t download it, or whatever.

I’m getting paranoid that I’m not welcome here.

Hey Steve - don't let it get to you. In my experience the posts I make expecting to get a strong response often don't and the post I make expecting a low response generate the most replies.

This applies to every forum I ever saw. I think it's some sort of cosmic principle: Wizards Law of Inverse Forum Posting Response or something!:D

I don't have tS 7 so I can't see your 3d recordings but FWIW I like your record player.

It's possible the lack of response is because people are so used to CDs that they don't remember record players.

LOL. :D Also, visionary genius he may be, but I don't think Roman's quite got the hang of multi-part .rar files yet. :p :D

Thanks W!ZARD & Alien! I'm not fishing for compliments, just find it kind of
strange is all. I guess my interpretation of colaboration is a bit of a pipe dream.
(now where did I put that pipe.):)

Thanks for hosting the file Alien, delete it when you want to, it's your space
and your call.

Onward, and upward. Stiff upper lip and all that rot.;)

Cheers!

No problem. :) I get 55MB free with my ISP account, & I'm probably using less than 15 of that, even with your file.

I should say I don't have tS7 yet. I'm in NZ - that's a long way for the pony express horse to swim. I'm assuming it's en route. It's academic anyway as I'm way too busy to start learning the new stuff yet! So much to do so little time etc. Which may be why this forum is a bit quiet. Which neatly brings this post back On Topic ;)

Sorry, I forgot you're on dial-up, & hence a 128.5MB download [96.2 for tS7, 35.6 for the manual] might seem a bit daunting. Still, you're a more patient man than I am. Even if I was on dial-up, I'd have just left it going over night [I estimate 7.28 hours, based on an assumed rate of 300KB/minute].

Hey SteveBe. I'm not trying to be rude - I just can't figure out how to open a recording in this thing. I'd love to see it. And the other recordings too. :)

I'm just stupid, I guess.

You are very welcome and invited to join Beta Group if you care! This is a nice recording and we can use it. I particularly like the fact that you made a combination of live recording and procedural animation using LE. I just have one wish, could you add a wav file to play some sound while LP is spinning?

Sorry for late replay. Alien is right I still have problems with multiple rar files.

Thanks Roman, and sorry for my whining in the post you quoted. I know that
patience is a virtue, but it’s not one of my strong points.

I considered adding a wave file on the original but there is the issue of copyright
infringment so it must be music that is in the public domain. Anyone have any
links for free music that isn’t pirated?

I also have the same problem of posting a 6 meg file to the forums so if someone
on your staff can PM or email me an alternate way to send the recording that
would make things simpler.

Does your offer of private shared space still stand?

Alien is right I still have problems with multiple rar files.
That's easily fixed. I'm unclear on whether you actually have WinRAR (http://www.rarlab.com/index.htm) or WinAce (http://www.winace.com/), but if you don't have either then you need to get 1 of them. [there may be other progs that can handle .rar files, but if there are I'm not aware of them]

Once you've got a prog that can handle .rar files installed you'll need to check its options are set correctly:

In WinAce: go to View menu -> Options -> Shell Integration tab, & make sure everything's ticked/turned on.

In WinRAR: go to Options menu -> Settings -> Integration tab, turn on all three options in the Shell integration section, click the Context menu items button & turn on everything in the new window that opens as well.

Put all the parts of the multi-part rar file in 1 folder.

Right click the 1st 1 & you should see a sub-menu on the r/c menu for WinRAR/WinAce, & in there you're looking for an option that will read something like "Extract to <filename>\" [should be 3rd 1 down with WinRAR], where <filename> will be the same as the name of the file you right-clicked. Clicking this option will create a new folder in the folder you were already in & put the file[s] it extracts in there.

There are other ways to get the job done with either of these progs, what you might call "variations on a theme", but I think this is the easiest way to get your head around the task until you've had more of a chance to experiment.

HTH :)

Just did a quick google & found this (http://www.goingware.com/tips/legal-downloads.html) - looks like it might be of use.

I don't work for Caligari, but if you want I'll PM you my gmail addy [the 1 associated with my member account for this forum can't handle large attachments], & you can send it to me & I'll bung it on my webspace. Having said that, if he follows my tips above Roman shouldn't have much trouble with multi-part .rar files now.

g, with WinRar (default settings), you just download them all into same folder and extract the first one, it builds it for you. Trick is you need all the files downloaded before you start the extraction.

We do not have private shared spaces yet, so you better go for TS7.5 Beta testing:) But I want that sound to go with the video, there must be some music in public domain. Proper music (20-30 sec woul dbe fine) would make a big difference in this animation.

I hope you find some nice tune to go with the turntable. Do not go for New Age:)

Another point, turntable transparent lid does not show in truePlay/shareSpace player because it is a NURBS object. Could you convert it to a mesh for final version?

If you have a song in mind you want to use, it's worth a shot to email the record label to see if you can get clearance.

I did this a while back (contacted both the artist and label) and it went very smoothly. Since mine is a non-resale type deal I only have to give credit for the lyrics and music. If it were a deal where I made money, then we'd have to talk royalty fees and such.

I found a blues song by Robert Johnson that's in the public domain called Phonograph Blues.:D
I'm trying to figure out how I can hook up the sound script to a timer, (I know nothing about scripting yet).
Also I need to figure out how to imbed the file or how to address the problem that people who download the
recording and wave file will run it from different locations on their hard drive.

Any assistance or suggestions would be appeciated!

I will convert the lid to a mesh.

Thanks for the offers and suggestions for royalty free tunes!

Well here's an update, the record file size increased when I converted
NURBS to mesh. I cleaned things up a bit in the LE and added the sound script. The wave file is included in the Rar archive.

Please test in Player as I don't have it yet.:p

In the sound script you brouse to where the wave file is stored on your
hardrive. You can load your own if you don't care for my musical taste.

As it stands right now you must manually press the play once when you
want the music to start. This will probably have to change as I'm not
sure if the player has access to the LE.

Check the library Scenes/Active/Clock object. It does what you are looking to do with sound.

Hope this helps.

hmmm ... or perhaps not. Is sound working for anyone in this example?
