Odd indeed - as a possibility, are you using HDRI for your lighting? Looks like you might be from the nice shadowing?

I recall reading somewhere that you can't use HDRI and volumetrics together, so if you are that could perhaps be the cause... If you're not then I'm not sure what the problem is. A detailed model alone shouldn't be enough to cause a problem - I once rendered a 70MB model (in tS4) with voluetrics and it worked fine (if rather slowly...)

I've been considering using volumetrics in a separate render pass and then compositing them together afterwards - W!zard was always very good at that sort of thing... you're obviously very capable of using photoshop or similar to enhance your work so I'm sure you could do something similar?

Fantastic scene by the way, I really like what you're doing with this...

Thank for your help.

I use often separate render too. But for this scene i have the same problem withtout HDRI. I have several layers and if i try with only one layer to have a simple scene (the floor) with only one light, TS crash and render continue.

I have no time to understand if there is a solution. It is frustrating but I will not use volumetric. since many years, I noticed a problem in an object can corrupt a scene and all scenes in which the object was imported. It's like a virus.

Next step: the textures for the decor. Look like an old industrial architecture.

A BIG ditto on all of that! :)

Its very rare to come across a scene on the forum, especially a WIP, and everything about it is just absolutely spot on. Stunning work, marcel.

As good as this is I think you made an error. The top pair of hands show the left hand with a part that I think is upside down. If that hand reached across and grabbed the parts coming from the oven it would not be shown like this.

Also how is that part going to be put on the chain of parts without switching hands?

I add a light to make gears more metal and the arms have more contrasting.

the wrist can rotate 360 degrees :DWhich would not necessarily make it more efficient, but would look really cool in animation! When I saw that pic, that was my first thought... Parts are coming out wrong to assemble, but rotating the wrists would look cool.

A few arms are crazy and don't work correctly! I can not control them, they are too many. I create a robot cam to monitor and I'll include it in the image soon. :)

Just wanted to say the texture work in that last image is beautiful -the subtle colour variation on the 'dial' and the metal columns etc is really excellent - it's only in a close up like this that you can see just how brillaint they are.
