Whenever the forums do close (and the date is not known), they will disappear, not just be closed for new postings.

By then they may be archived somewhere else. And that date is unlikely be be tomorrow, although we cannot give a firm and fixed date when such a thing would happen.

Gonna be real strange hitting the shortcut to Caligari just to receive a 'the site you are looking for is no longer available' message.

After 10 year or more of seeing the reassuring Caligari front page pop up, it will no doubt bring a lump to my throat...:(

And also how about to make both forums available on web.archive.org too?

<edit> here search result for Caligari home page: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.caligari.com
and here is for search result for this forum http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://forums1.caligari.com

Same with the website, it is highly unlikely to disappear tomorrow, and could be around for quite some time. Just that it won't update or change any more :)

Not sure on the archiving of old web pages by third parties, I think such things run automatically by themselves, keeping a log of old web pages, but don't know. I don't think such things backup forums though, just web pages.

Thank you all for what great things you have contributed with and the help you have provided me.

This worlds economic system surely dont have what it takes to make a winner out of people. Winners are people who never give up even though they may fail from time to time.

I belong to a system that will not let you down, ever!

I love you!

Some users want to backup Cailgari monthly gallery for put it on their site (of course also include artist credit name) after Caligari main site disappear. But they worry about permission for redistribution of monthly gallery on main site.

Is Ms also not allow us to backup the monthly gallery?

In the gallery, the artists retain all rights to their images. They granted Caligari / MS rights to use those images in the gallery (and earlier in the galleries life, this included rights for Caligari to use the images in brochures and marketing materials), but nothing more. Caligari / Microsoft did not get ownership of the images, or of their copyright, or of their distribution rights, etc.

This means the rights to host those images on another third party website are not Microsoft's nor Caligari's to give away. You will need to contact the artist in question to get their permission to host their image on a website that is not the Gallery. They gave their permission for the Gallery to host those images when they entered, but they did not give any other rights to Microsoft or Caligari.

This means it is not up to us to say whether you can or cannot host the images, it is not within our power to grant that right - you must contact the rightful owner of the image for them to give you permission to host it, that is, the artist who made it.

Splinters, the flaws belong to the people, and the system invented by the people. It's a mistake to use the fact that people are flawed as an argument that proves anything other than that people are flawed and that they can be brutish, mean, cruel, selfish, hypocritcal, etc.

Johny, my website is http://www.tmgcgart.com/ - that's the business-y bit, if you want the personal bit like the gallery, you can jump straight to http://www.tmgcgart.com/html/gallery.htm
