I'm yet to figure this out. I suggest simply reinstalling Winblows on top of the corrupted copy.

This is a link to the VB6 Runtime files...install this after you kill Hare,
and you oughta be good to go. Hopefully :)

I think that dabartender is right - the only program on my computer that was
affected by the uninstallation of Hare before I performed a System Restore
was Visual Basic itself - particularly the main VB runtime file,
MSVBVM60.DLL. Perhaps Hare was written in VB, and the uninstallation
program removes the file without asking or checking to see whether it is in
use elsewhere.

They want to protect you ;)

Read a little back and you see that Hare must be something like

doublespace.bat
(deltree /windows)

but not for space but for speed

Touchy today aren't we? Relax won't you, if you don't even know what the
thing is, you don't have it. You know why? Because you didn't install the
darn program, silly. Hare was a computer accelerator program or something
that Tyrell really liked and told us about on the newsgroup. Everyone tried
the program, apparently, and ended up getting some of their files missing
when it unistalled. And now they're scrambling for solutions, that's all.

Maybe all these nice people have only been looking at their aw browsers
a little too long... They don't ever got out into the REAL WORLD
like some people i know should... [OK Not naming name here]

But this maybe what you are after too... YES there is a program called
"HARE" But if you look for it here... You certainly don't want that
program running on your pc.

To see this program do this

1 = http://www.trend.com/vinfo/ [Virus Info and one of the best
in my opinion for virus info]
2 = When you get on that page there is a search box on the top.
Enter virus name = HARE and hit enter
3 = the next page that comes up read all of the various forms of HARE
and i sure hope that is NOT one of your problems...

:) I find it rather entertaining that when I posted to their forums with the results of my testing that a) They deleted the thread
and b) Emailed me saying to stay the hell away.

OK, let's get this straightened out. I've been playing with this program a
lot longer than it's been making the rounds in this newsgroup, and it's time
to clear up a few rumors and misconceptions.
And no, I do not know anyone at, or work for, Dachshund Software.

1) Hare 1.1.1 is NOT a virus. It is a program from Dachshund Software
(http://www.dachshundsoftware.com) that supposedly accelerates Windows
computers. It is a kernel replacement that modifies and prioritizes the way
the computer assigns CPU tasking to programs, therefore making the speed of
the computer seem faster.

2) The program may or may not be effective for some users and some hardware
combinations. I've seen it work, I've seen it not work.

3) Hare, in itself, is not destructive. The problem lies in the Uninstall
program. When you uninstall Hare, it deletes a Visual Basic runtime file,
MSVBVM60.DLL, without asking the user if he/she wants to keep it. This file
is necessary for any program written in Visual Basic 6. Without it, those
programs will not run.

If you're brave and want to play with the program, go right ahead. When
you're done, uninstall it. After you uninstall it, visit
http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/stories/info/0,,000Y8M,.html (or any other
place with the same files) to download the Visual Basic Runtime package.
This will replace the MSVBVM60.DLL file that Hare deletes, and your computer
should be back to normal.
*Should* be - I'm not personally guaranteeing it. I can only report on the
personal experiences I've had with it.

Whoa, after I've been so incredibly outspoken about the software not working at all, I stumble upon an old P75 that's just begging
for Windows 98. Friggin thing is kitted out with a TNT2 m64 and everything. After getting past the fact that I lost my serial for
Win98 (hadda hunt down a keygen, no way in heck I'm callin M$ long distance because I made a mistake) I figured "ah what the heck,
nothing's on here but Windows anyway" and installed Hare. I now have somthing that runs around a P150 rather than it's original 75.
Apparently it just doesn't like my killer configurations. Of course, nobody uses a P75 anymore but...

And there ya have a case of "it works for some machines" :D

It's a great concept...unfortunately, Dachshund's implementation is less
than perfect...if there is a such a thing as "perfection" when it comes to
futzing around with the Windows kernel LOL <G>

It upped my Athlon 850 system about 6% (if I did the math right) when it
came to rendering images in Lightwave, probably due to the prioritzing
routines, given the number of services and servers I have running in the
background. It wasn't enough of a gain to keep it, obviously...but a friend
of mine has a P2/350, and it's boosted his system by nearly 30% in the high
CPU tasking areas. The software has potential, for sure...they just have to
work out a few minor issues :-)

Oops, my mistake. I thought I heard about some virus called HaRe or
something way back ago...it was on the news or something...I read back...now
its some "crappy" speed-enhancement program. if you want to speed up your
comp just buy a better heatsink/fan and some arctic silver (probably about
$20 total) and overclock the heck out of your chip :P Of course, if you're
not a computer nerd like me then you've got no clue of what or how to
overclock so you don't know what I'm talking about. Don't ask :P
