Killing my Processor // General Discussion

I noticed a striking difference whenever the version with avatars that could
hide behind objects came out. Ever since, it's like trying to run like a
rabbit in 6 feet of water.

At this point, I really must upgrade my processor. I was given a suggestion
to look at newegg.com. I'd like to hear what is working for everyone else.
What brand and size. After I get the right one, I'm confident about opening
it up and putting it in myself.

If I got any lighter I would float away. Go home and program some visual
basic pile of crap fireworks bot or something.

A) I already am at home
B) Due to the nature of computing a program cannot be described as a "pile"
unless you eat a CT with it on.
C) Ive just spent the last 12 hours programming a certain script for the
"pile of crap" fireworks bot to entertain the community, all ive ever seen
you do is insult various members of it.
D) Comments such as "If I got any lighter I would float away." indicate a
unwillingness to present a rational explenation

Now you go away and program your pile of crap AWProxy :)

Weee, lets play the letter game...

A) A computer program can be described as a "pile", it is a pile of code,
poorly written code for you.
B) Good for you, I like to see people pissing their lives away on the
computer instead of going outside, making friends, etc. Really, the last
twelve hours? Hmmm, your bot must suck then, so much programming for so
little. I haven't insulted "various members" of the community, only you.
Last time I checked you don't make up the whole community, maybe your ego
does, but you sure do not.
C) I can present any explanation that I wish. I'm already extremely mellow,
and if I got any mellower, I would be sleeping, or dead.
D) I am not the person who programs this "AWProxy". Please look your local
whitepages to find the local "AWProxy" dealer and ask them.

Love and kisses

So? You can see by how the application functions.

Im working :). I have to be in front of my computer in order to make.. Oh
my... Money!

I did see it, and left feeling queezy. Trust me, it isn't the untimate
corona lightshow. Your egos showing again. Moving 70 objects every two
seconds sounds extreamly laggy. I dont want to see it a second time.

> -Also im in the UK so its the yellow pages here... the USA took the

So, what do you want, a cookie?

> - AWProxy would be best looked up in AWC's most wanted list

Ha, they've been including functions out of AWProxy into the normal browser.
Their trying to kill it, but it doesn't seem to be working ;). They dont
hate it, they haven't banned anyone over it, at least for a long time. Its
not biggy. The most usefull function of it is spoofing your Computer ID
(last four bytes of the mac address), messing with how things show up in the
browser, and some other things like that. Its not harmful to anything. You
cant take over worlds with it. Although I know you'd like that.

Try again.

Nope, I have no idea... But would like to take this time, although a
little late, to ask anyone if they know how to reduce processor usage
on a certain program?

I have Windows XP, so not sure if it's possible with its limited
functions compared to Pro and 2000...

I know I can set priorities for a program to low, but that doesn't
seem to reduce the cpu usage on AW... And if I set it to high, well it
almost pauses the thing.

Oh well, any ideas? I hate midi's going all crackly, I can only stop
it slightly by setting visibility right down, which doesn't fully fix
it... Also putting AW in the background, or making the chat area full
screen and barely any 3d left also fixes it. It's a pain, and
sometimes midi's and wavs are interesting when sitting around bored...

Joe, You really dont like VBers do you? Anyhow, on this 1 point I agree with
you, most VB crap is made by 12 year old kids who just got into VB so they
could try and *hack* their schools little computer network. Yes, VB is
majorly dissadvantaged by the way it compiles into so much damn assembly
code.

VB is not at fault, the people who produce crap programs in it are, but as a
good friend put it Visual Basic programmers lack alot of disapline which is
a major weakness. Anyhow, personally I think ive got to a level where im
pritty damn efficent with it, but I know if I intend to go any further with
programming Ill have to do C / C++ (which I have now started learning a few
weeks back).

Oh oh oh! And dont forget the VB script kiddies favorite ever code....CD
Draw in, CD Draw out, CD Draw in, CD Draw out, CD Draw in, CD Draw
out......CD Draw in, CD Draw out, CD Draw **BANG**

But hey, the kids shall learn

-Mark

I think it was JoeMan who said:
I've seen plenty of good freeware out on the net. Freeware has the
reputation of being crappy, because of all the VB programmers who have the
6MB programs that sort your MP3 collection, deleting half of them, and then
turning your computer into a microwave oven.

[View Quote] I dont hate them, I write a few quick hacks in VB because of its easy
winsock control. It sure beats the hell out of C++ with winsock... But
nothing else...

VB is at fault. If there was no VB, then those "script kiddies" would be no
more. Life would be good.

I bet you couldn't make the CD drive open and close with VB ;).

I was tired and fcuked up. There should be a "But freeware has the" after
the first sentence.
