MS V-Chat

Tried it about 4 or 5 years ago for approx. 2 days then deleted it.

Reminded me of a comic strip.

Let tourists back in Alphaworld!!

Jul 23, 2002, 5:06pm
It's been a long time since I've visited or chatted at Alpha World GZ. I
didn't realize they weren't chatting there anymore. I'm surprised, I
figured more people would be chatting there than at AW Gate.

Internet

Jul 24, 2002, 9:55pm
http://www.channel1.com/users/fire was one of the old URL's. I believe JP
McCormick and Rick Noll had individual url's with Channel1, also. JP had an
object path I couldn't find in use by any other world, and I remember using
some textures from this OP for some of my builds for experimentation, using
pict1, etc.

Your message brings up a good point - old World's Inc (in relation to Alpha
World), Alpha World, COF, AWCOM, AWINC, etc., webpages should be saved and
made available for others to see. Used to be that when you entered the
start area of World's Inc., there was a portal to Alpha World; however, it
was a broken link at the time I visited. Maybe others remember when you
could enter Alpha World that way.

Hopefully, someone at all the other companies are saving the old pages, too.
Will be nice to reminisce in future years.

Killing my Processor

Jul 28, 2002, 4:09pm
I noticed a striking difference whenever the version with avatars that could
hide behind objects came out. Ever since, it's like trying to run like a
rabbit in 6 feet of water.

At this point, I really must upgrade my processor. I was given a suggestion
to look at newegg.com. I'd like to hear what is working for everyone else.
What brand and size. After I get the right one, I'm confident about opening
it up and putting it in myself.

PHP Downloads

Jul 23, 2002, 10:26am
I like to build and downloading this at an object yard, world or any other
place is not what I would like to have happen. Is there a way I can set my
security settings or AW settings where I don't have to download this? I'd
prefer not to be counted or whatever else.

website, aw's problems...

I agree we need to be informed. However, if I were an employee of
Activeworlds, I'd be cautious of what I released. There are people that
would broadcast a private telegram all over creation to bully someone into
keeping their word, promise or just to irritate around here.

The unfortunate part of not hearing from them is we don't get to know their
side of the story in regards to what is going on. It is an asset to keep
communication open between us and them - they have the authority to market,
make money for themselves and hopefully us. They also have the ability to
make us miserable by changing textures on an object, ignoring an idea,
changing the panorama to something not building friendly and the like.

Everyone would benefit by trying to meet halfway. I seem to notice that
when we treat them respectfully (which doesn't include broadcasting
telegrams, cursing at them in the NG, bashing their public relations
abilities, personal digs) they seem to come out. Please read Aesop's Fable
at http://63.64.191.194/audio/bedtime4.html .

If you know of something nice the company has done, it's just as important
to post that in the NG as well as a complaint.
