Is AW behind all the other universes being down leaving only AW open???
I cant go any place but AW now!
I have been in www.dreamlandpark.com longer then AW and I have a world there
to.
If AW is behind all this well then someone's going to give me money for each
day my world can't be on line!!! >:-(
Jan 5, 2002, 11:39pm
isn't DreamLandPark running off of AW's servers an whatnot?
Jan 6, 2002, 12:12am
Its hosted by AW, but not owned by them.
And my world is hosted by me.

just because AW doesnt own something doesnt mean they cant do stuff with it
as long as its under their control, (if they're hosting the uni), they can
pull it
they can also pull the license, meaning the uni can't run... period
Jan 6, 2002, 12:44am
well what about all the other uni's ? AW is just hurting thereself more.
noones going to pay that outrageous unfair price, thouse other uni's are
all AW has left to bring them out of the hole.
WE DON'T NEED ACTIVE WORLDS, ITS ACTIVE WORLDS WHO NEED US!

If AW is doing this all.
Just say for a sec that you owned a world and I hosted it for you, your
saying even though i dont own it I can decide to give myself rights in it
and completely destroy what you built letting you see it after, then take
the world offline.
LOL yea right there would be some sueing going on if that happened.

this may be unfounded but i did here that aw is forcing worlds not running
3.2 to close down. this was from a universe owner (not hacked)
Jan 6, 2002, 3:00pm
no problems getting into the AW3000 uni, but it's not hosted by AW though...

Just a thought....but last night I found out that in the past day and a half
over 400 new citizenships were started in DLP. Would they have closed down
DLP to "catch up" with all those new cits and prevent system overload???

posibly, but what right dose AW have doing that?
All them cit's came from AW due to the AW price increase.
I think its AW's way of saying "no no no no you get your buts back over
here"

DJ Temptress who is on the DLP board just stated in AW that it could be
server problems.
I hope rumors quit going around missing thier facts:(

What are you talking about? they don't make any money out of existing universes.

The Uni server program is still owned by AW, they die, all uni's will die.
AW can order all uni owners to stop running there uni's and destroy all and
any copies they have.

The universe and galaxy software is sold, not rented.
I can hardly imagine that any contract could force
someone to destroy his own property. Who would sign
such a contract?

Same thing if a uni stops and you owned a world in it.
If you didnt make a propdump save of your world, well you would have to
rebuild the whole thing by hand some place else.

if they host it, they've got the right to close it, and tell the DLP folks
to take it somewhere else, or pay more, they might have some restrictions on
how much server resources it should use...

Not only that, but all DreamLandPark does is offer up a CUSTOMIZED version
of THE SAME browser you can get at the AW site itself (the screenshot at
http://www.dreamlandpark.com/main/tour.html told me THAT much!) Juno does
(or at least *did* last time I checked) the SAME THING!!! Additionally, it
appears that SOMEONE has been LOAFING AOUND on the job because they failed
to delete any reference to 2.2 and the price for a citizenship is still
listed at $19.95 a year. Both of which, as we all know by now, have
changed.
So Data21, you have have your world there (good luck on getting ANY of your
old files back though!), but I'd bet I could easily teleport there just by
using the AW browser (once I get my DirectX problem fixed).
Just my $02 worth...Cheers for now :-)

You've got a bit of JFK2-itis going on here. :) The capital words make it
seem like you're shouting, not highlighting a word, so please don't do that.
It's grating on the nerves. Thanks.
