It's not. At least not for me. Had to reinstall 3.1 cause I had nothing but
problems. Deleted cache many times along with multiple reinstalls and it
stunk
Frame rates were a joke. Got a P4 1.7 384 megs RAM and a GeForce3 and D3D
performance was half of what it was in 3.1. Open-GL was terrible with only
0.7 fps and software mode was 3.1 fps compared to 56.5 fps with the 3.1
oh well....

Eh... did you try Direct3D mode? 3dfx cards like the Voodoo work better
with Direct3D.

wow your comp is better then mine and mine works fine! i couldnt find a
performace diferance between OPenGL and D3D so i wnet with D3D (at least
until i test some more) i upgraded word servers and am behind a personal
firewall (without aw configured for it, that is until it does it
automaticly).

AMD Athlon 750 mhz 128 mb o' ram and Nvidia Vanta. Both modes works the same
or better then 3.1 i cant really tell. and DSL connection

Yes, tried all modes as the results previously stated. I have the latest
drivers, Direct X 8 all my games , Tomb Raider's, Quakes, etc... all fly.
3D Mark bench scores are off the map and 3.1 worked perfectly with fantastic
fps.
Besides a performance hit in 3.2, much of the worlds do not load visually at
all. Alpha world doesn't even have a ground anymore. It's there as I can
walk on it and bump into walls and such but their mostly invisible.
Pieces of objects are gone as seen in Meta. Avatar limbs missing...LOL
I think this one needs a tad more work. Going to reinstall 3.1 :)

BTW, I did test it on my backup system with a Voodoo5 card and it seems to
be much better and most the objects render again. Seems to be an issue with
certain GeForce3 driver combos.

The ground works fine for me and everyone else I've talked to... Hmm...
looks like 3.2 isn't compatible with every computer setup. What's your
specs?

p.s. I took a performance hit too with FPS. Looks like almost everyone
did.

The GEforce 3 looks to be the culprit. Roland, did any of your beta testers
have that card?

Absolute dissapointment.
D3d is still shitty.
OGL looks HORRIBLE (would be GREAT if it weren't for damn cheapshit
lighting)

*sigh* Call me when 3.3/4.0 rolls around.

Sameeeeee here!
I installed 3.2, walked around for a bit, tested out the different modes and
reinstalled 3.1....
Gawd, the lag was unbearable. I'll give 3.2 a shot when I pick up a Geforce
3 sometime in the coming months.

In 3.2, AW loads everything to your visibility limit loads when you're
moving. In 3.1 when you move, objects only load when you're 10 meters away
from them. Then when you stop it all loads together. Lot of things to
render = slower Fps.

Nothing much visually has changed from 3.1 (IMHO), Both Open GL and Direct3D
look similar (if not the same)
Direct3D is faster than OpenGL
FPS gone down a tad, not really a major concern.

Movement at running speed (moving with CTRL held down) a bit more jerky over
3.1, not a major issue either. Perhaps due to what SW Chris described, the
whole scene is loaded right out to maximum visibility when you move and not
just at 10m in front of you as with previous versions.

Midi's pauses momentarily which I find a pain when AW access the cache while
loading up the scene, but once everything has loaded, it's fine. Midi (IMHO)
sound a little bit better, whereas with the last version, some instruments
were missing.

All animated window / door panels have a white border around the openings
now, rather than being the same color making them look like just holes cut
out in walls as what happened in 3.1, some people may like it others don't,
personally I'm comfortable with it and feel that it makes some of my builds
look better.

I like how I can set a fixed visibility, it would be better If I could
access them via quick keys on the keyboard

There is a cell grid which can be turned on and off, I wish I could change
and lift the grid up to my desired level such as at the land level I'm
building at. It can be useful with build planning in attempt to Keep the BI
away.

In summary, 3.2 IMO is not bad so far, I'm going to keep it ;-)

actualy like most poeple havent i HAVE read the help and it says it loads
all objects appun entry and it does not load all objects in view....the ones
farther away are seen from cache

And the point is.... Either way it's an FPS hit.
