Alphaworld Community Core Staff // Wishlisthyper anthonyOct 19, 2004, 11:14pm
A world is something that has a lot of potential to be many things.
Alphaworld is the largest world. It has the potential to be many things for a lot of many people. In fact, it is right now. However, the desire to be in Alphaworld is slowly dieing out. It can't go for a year without object updates, it can't go for a year without map updates and the like. None of you guys at AWI seem to be up to the task, so how about setting up a group of talented individuals, who have been using Active Worlds long enough to know what they need to do, and how to do it. I believe a group of people in charge of Updating the Objects, Textures, and Masks, taking care of the world, keeping interest in its community, maybe even setting up events would help it immensly. It worked in AWTeen. It worked in AWRPG. Why can't it be passed along to Alphaworld? strike rapierOct 19, 2004, 11:57pm

To be honest, he wasn't really that great to begin with. Certainly I'm
not much better, but I could be worse. samuel ml lisonOct 20, 2004, 6:42am

Those are *your* personal opinions, not particularly ours. Please do not
assume and speak on behalf of all ;o) AW world has been going the way it is for many, many years with only a few upgrades. You see, we now have a huge cell limit and people still come up with complaints about something. > None of you guys at AWI seem to be up to the task, so how about setting up a > group of talented individuals, who have been using Active Worlds long enough > to know what they need to do, and how to do it. And you are that particular individual who has been in AW long enough to know what to do? Or been in AWTeen long enough to known what to do? > It worked in AWTeen. It worked in AWRPG. Why can't it be passed along to > Alphaworld? Sounds like a good idea and all, but AW is a historical world where mostly the oldies enter to build their builds, and towns. Each town has their *own* community and they run their *own* events. There is a world called AWCC which manages many things pertaining to the ActiveWorlds browser in general as well as the AW world... There use to be object competitions and certain objects had been added to the AW Object Path. There is still an events calendar, but this is for the whole ActiveWorlds community as a whole. I believe Justin was the one that got the rock1.rwx etc objects added to the object path, LOL. Now that was a while ago. Objects that are in the AW Object Path need to be specific, and perfect. Many world owners use this object path and having laggy objects and junk like in AWTeen would put the path to shame really. We have the Megapath as world owners which has more flexibility for adding objects and textures I suppose. Enough of my blabbering ;o) Yours Sincerely, Samuël ML Lison -- DreamCities.net - A Community for All! Now now he never said or implied he was volunteering for the job.
Personally, I'd like just a couple people to overlook objects and texture submissions, checking for quality and consistancy with existing objects. Bleh, I hate the idea that Alphaworld is a world for oldies. It should be a big booming world of activity :D > > And you are that particular individual who has been in AW long enough to > know what to do? Saying that Alpha World is a world for oldies would bad marketing. The
oldies already use Alpha World, so stop marketing to them. Market to people who are not members by constantly improving the world. Though those new pp16 objects are misaligned with inconsistant gradients, AWI has done a good job in allowing a few community members to improve the world as much as possible. I hope it continues at this pace. |
