The ability to wear avs I prefer, or make, in any world I frequent ... as
opposed to wearing avs only allowed by the world itself. I know, can send em a private or two, still would prefer to wear ones I've chosen. LNH dlp anneJul 31, 2003, 7:44am
This could be done but it would involve alot of downloading from the users
computers. Some with firewalls or routers that they don't have accuses to will be triangles to everyone. One chat program I know has done this for a long time is Excite chat, you would have to use their VP places or Talk program as it was last called. Excite chat is no where near 3D its just chatting and using any web site as a chat room. It allows each user to use what ever small picture they wanted jpg or gif and all saw it when it was used. This same thing can be done with AW and their 3D avatar also if they wanted to add it in. It would involve a user side avatar.dat file, seq's, textures, and avatars that would be constantly downloaded from the user when ever someone came in view of them. Adobe Atmosphere does avatars this way. They don't need to be on the
users computer though... they can be anywhere on the internet. The main point being the persons avatar is not determined by the world they are in, but by their own personal choice. [View Quote] johnJul 31, 2003, 4:56pm
AW could set up a part of their uniserver to let people upload their own
avatars and then they would be downloaded by users from there. ~John [View Quote] lady nighthawkAug 1, 2003, 2:01am
I belong to two 2D chats (the palace, and the manor) ... both have the
ability to make your own avs and wear them no matter what server you are on. This is great because the avs are stored in your computer, and you make em or trade em. When you put the av on, no matter the server you are visiting, the server grabs the av and puts it in it's cache folder in a hidden, non accessible area. Pretty neat really. The other main thing I think 2D has over 3D so far is the chat bubbles differ according to what you type. You can have thought bubbles, BRB bubbles, sticky bubbles or regular chat bubbles. Thought bubbles begin with a color ( :your thoughts), spiked (sticky) balloons start with an !, and BRB balloons start with a ^. Now mind you these are two different chat types yes, but I do think different kinds of balloons to express oneself is neat LOL. I've grown accustom to them and miss them in 3D. Other than that, AW rocks for me so far! LNH [View Quote] starfleetAug 1, 2003, 2:25am
