I think AW needs a feature where you can appear offline to certain people,
or make it so certain people cannot see you when you talk (PS should be able to seen anyone tho obviously). This would be very helpful in many cases such as stalkers, who I find very annoying >.< You can block your status, t-grams, and mute the person, but a lot of times people can find ways around that, such as getting others to contact you for them, or going to worlds they know you visit. If this was harassment, you could get PK's involved, but its really just an annoyance. So I think something like this would be a good solution. strike rapierJul 6, 2003, 1:54pm
That takes privacy too far in 99.99% of cases. Infact its like someone could
be saying all sorts of crap about you and you would not be able to see em *glares at Alaskan* - Mark [View Quote] builderzJul 6, 2003, 1:54pm
See my comments below:
[View Quote] You can make it so that certain people can't see if you are online, can't send you tgrams, can't join you, etc. by right-clicking on their name in the contacts list, going to Privacy Options for <name> and then selecting the item you want to block. You can even mute them whenever they speak. Now, about other people not seeing/hearing you when you talk... I think there is a new feature in the 3.4 world server that can be enabled which allows everyone to see who is in the world without them having to type anything. And like you said, people with certain rights (as well as bots) will be able to see everyone in the world, too. I don't think there is any easy solution to those problems. However, I like your idea about adding a feature where instead of muting someone, they can't even see your text in the first place. As always, go bug the dev team. :) > This would be very helpful in many cases such > as stalkers, who I find very annoying >.< You can block your status, > t-grams, and mute the person, but a lot of times people can find ways around > that, such as getting others to contact you for them, or going to worlds > they know you visit. Maybe you should consider getting another citizenship with a totally different name and use it for the sake of your privacy? Or going in as a tourist to some of the worlds you visit and talking with your friends over a IM program? If they really are that bad, maybe you could send an e-mail to AW or their ISP's abuse department about it. The only other thing I can suggest would be to run a software firewall, find out if any of your online stalkers have a static IP address, and then block them by IP. Actually, yea, I do have quite a lot of stalkers, but its not harassment,
they just follow me everywhere asking questions or bugging me for no reason. It's just mildly annoying =) [View Quote] alaskanshadowJul 6, 2003, 2:30pm

Actually, not really. And if your looking to use your precious rules against
me, let me know in advance so I have time to go get some popcorn =D [View Quote] count draculaJul 9, 2003, 11:08am
Personally I have never quite understood why go to a chatplace and hide.
I know I am sometimes busy in AW also, but setting status to AFK should tell people that I am unable to answer grams right now. it doesn't work for me and it annoys me showing that your offline would make
them think you are offline and you would get no Telegrams, about every 2 seconds when I am afk I get a telegram to join someone or see their building or how to do something... and its annoying [View Quote] |
