Hi,

My main wishlist item, is true support for 3Dfx Voodoo/Voodoo2
graphics. That way, we can have more silky smooth ActiveWorlds
at 30 frames per second. Perhaps a full-screen 3D browsing keypress
toggle, for the immersive experience too!

Thanks,

I like that full screen 3D keypress idea... Perhaps Alt-Enter, like Windows
uses for DOS programs... except that is would hide most other parts... maybe
only leaving the 3D window and the chat dialog.. or possibly hide the chat
dialog too, and just have some way to indicate when new chat text is
recieved, so you could switch modes to read it if you want.

I agree. I just installed a 3Dfx Voodoo2 add on card and really would like
for it to work in AW :)

My opinion on 3Dfx is ! at #$ !!!
They overcharge for Crap! Yes, they're a standard, but standards are rarely
the best, in fact... Standards are usually the base line.

Number two, AW runs off of RenderWare, and it'd be stupid as hell to even
try to transfer to a 3Dfx Engine, because RenderWare is the fastest overall
engine 1, and 2, It's the easiest to model for...

Number three, there are special DLLs for 3Dfx crap cards available...

Um...no. RenderWare is NOT the fastest engine overall...HARDLY. 3Dfx HARDWARE acceleration kicks ass. RenderWare is SOFTWARE emulation but also has Voodoo and Direct3D HARDWARE drivers, which don't seem to work too well in AW.

COF and Criterion need to work on the RW Direct3D drivers so they don't cause AW to crash or pause for a long time when changing the window size. Criterion also needs to update them for DirectX 6.0 support.

If you did a little research, you would know that Renderware is listed as
being supported by 3Dfx. Look before you leap. Oh, and you get what you
pay for. That's why Creative Labs, 3Dfx, Intel, USR/3COM, Etc, are top
selling products even though they cost a little more.

Ok if it's supported how do I make it work on my machine? I tryed the direct 3d
dll's they made my machine crash, I have 2 monster3d II cards.

In genral I agree that 3dfx support should be implemented. Once again blaxxun
made it work for their CCpro (even if that is about the only thing that works).

AW only does 3D in a Window. The Voodoo 1 and 2 do NOT do 3D in a window,
however, the Voodoo Rush cards (and the new Banshee) do 3D in a window so
are supported. If you have a Voodoo 1 or 2, you are out of luck. But in
some circumstances the D3D driver in AW are worse than just using the MMX
drivers.
