Maybe a cool television commercial with all the hype for ActiveWorlds
would increase our population. I would love to see the users jump up to
around 1000 or more.

maybe if COF would order some products like cd cases, duffle bags and such
that have the COF logo on them they might get some non-internet publicity.
They could sel them at a low price to get back the cost.

I am working at a screenprinting manufacturing plant for the summer.
This company makes products for companies all over the world such as coca
cola, pepsi, the citadel, etc Their prices are reasonable and very
attractive.

If COF wants to grow, they have to stop being so frugal with their
advertising dollars. look at any big company. They spend tons of money
on advertising, even though they really don't need to (I mean Coca Cola is
already a household word), but they know how to make a company grow.

Sure, COF might not be able to afford a television commercial or a
billboard spot, but with products with the company logo that they can at
least recover their cost from would not be such a bad idea.

Yea, and throw some cocaine in for added flavor to AW and then AW would be
like the Old Coke! It could be called Active Coke or
Alpha Coke

Hmmm... Instead of waiting for COF to express an interest... Just do it...

Create 2 or 3 different Logos... Put them before the populous... give us a
choice of tee-shirt colour... (I don't do black)... and see if it floats... I
know I'd buy (at least) one shirt (assuming you'r not financing your home with
the revenue :-) ) and there would likely be quite a few others who'd buy one
too... Then COF may jump on the bandwagon as they did with VRT...

They did? hmm I know we have a VRT clock in the browser, but COF don't
use VRT when they announce stuff, there's no link on COF's web page,
there's no paragraph or two (that I remember seeing) describing what VRT
is and where it came from in the help...

Hmmm... I did say 'jump on' and not 'buy outright'... :-)

It's a constant source of amazement why COF doesn't get behind something like
this... I can see not 'having the time/resources' to do it themselves... (we
do keep them pretty busy with all the code changes we want)... BUT when
someone goes to the trouble of 'doing it for them' (in the case of VRT) and
altho' they have included it on the Browser... (for which I'm thankful) , they
just leave it hanging there... Their not using it themselves (when they post
notices etc or a mention on their Web Site) takes away from it's importance...
Am I the only one who can see the benefit of using VRT... It would create in
those who 'have' to use it a sense of community... No matter what we think of
an issue... it still happens in the COF Universe at xx:xx VRT... It's belongs
to those in Alpha (and other worlds)...

Same thing would happen if someone went to the trouble of offering to create a
Logo (or more) and providing a way for Citizens to buy the shirts... How can
this possibly 'not' benefit COF...

Ya... I guess you do have a point... let's hope they 'would' get behind the
t-shirt thing (assuming someone bothers to create then) and offers some (free
to them) backing...

Sooo... my 'wish' would be for COF to start using/standing behind/supporting
in an ACTIVE way the 'free advertizing' (and utils) that the Citizens provide
to the community... (if it doesn't float they'v lost nothing... if it takes
off they benefit... isn't this obvious to anyone else???)

I can do animation on your shirt, if you can afford it.... but you'll have
to move slowly so I can keep in in focus. :)

[View Quote] I get it :) It just seems COF don't... they think of this as *software*
and not as a *community*... I think Roland and Shamus, and *maybe* ENZO
(but unlikely IMHO), get the 'community' aspect... but unfortunately
Roland and Shamus don't control the $$$ of the company, ENZO and JP
do...
