I've found that leaving build 949 running for awhile seems to cripple
XP. Everything works fine at first, but seriously degrades if used for a
few minutes or so. CPU usage gets locked at 99% even when it's
minimized. I have trouble opening applications. Lots of other weird
errors and things.

And then everything works 100% fine as soon as I close the browser.
Something's not right here.

I think it has something to do with build 949. Build 948 gave me *none*
of these problems. And no, I haven't changed my system configuration or
anything like that in-between the upgrade. Deleting the cache folder
doesn't seem to help at all, either.

Anyone else getting this? It's basically keeping me from using 4.1 at
the moment.

How weird, the previous build caused me some off slowing problems when
switching between 3.6 and 4.1 but since todays update I have not noticed
anything bad. I've been in the newest browser for hours today... course I
wasn't looking at my cpu usage nor was I doing what I normally do either.
Tomorrow I will be better able to judge, now that I have a server running
again, once I start building, playing in Photoshop and messing arount in
3dsMax, I can better decide if I am having the same issues as yourself.

I'm getting the same problems as deltaphc said. For me AW suckes up the CPU
then after may 15min of building it crashed with a memory error.

Just now did a clean reinstall. Same problems.

This was a question lots of people were asking in AW Gate today. I sat
there with no problems, running 4.1 even after the new upgrade, however I
wasn't doing anything other than chatting, so I don't know if I just got
lucky, my pc is just good enough to handle it (and no I am not saying mine
is better than anyone elses) or I am going to run into problems as soon as I
try and build etc.

Could it be registry problems in XP? I am running XP 64 edition, and that
has had registry problems in the past. Just an idea.

Same here, I was monitering the cpu usage when moving in aw anything apart
from standing still produces a 100% cpu usage.

I cant run any other programs while running 4.1 as computer freezes up.

Plus since installing 4.1 I am experencing the blue screen of death. On days
I dont enter aw 4.1 I dont get this.

http://www.darkestdestiny.com/usagechart1.jpg
Shows aworld.exe in the background, with taskmgr in the forground at the
beginning of the chart, you then see a spike to 100% when I click on the
aworld.exe window that then drops to 5% to 20% for the next few minutes
while I am only standing in my world which contains only 2 object
models(about 1000 scattered over a p-50), but I am at vis 200.

This chart shows me flying around the world. the longer I flew around, the
higher it seemed to get. Again, vis 200, and only 2 models in the world, but
it is terrained.

Hard to say what real usage will be like, but does seem on the surface to be
a little cpu intensive. If you were using a laptop with a battery, then I
can certainly understand the hesitation to use the new browser, but how does
it compare to the 3.6 browser?

I haven't seen any problem with CPU usage.
At AWGate n 3.6 I get approx 40 - 55% or so
in AWGate 4.1 I get about 50+% or so
My frame rate is only about 12 in AWGate 4.1 while it was about 20+ in
AWGate 3.6. I assume that's just because of the different stuff they have
at AWGate 4.1

Yes that is exactly what's happening with my computer too. I have a 2 Ghz
Dell with 512 MB RAM and a 64 MB NVidea video card, with the newest Direct
X. It only happens, so far, in AWGate world, but my CPU usage goes to 100%
and my entire windows slows down, and my mp3 music (using the small Winamp)
gets all messed up, and I can't run any web browsers or anything else. As
soon as I leave AWGate and go to my area in AW world everything goes back to
normal and my CPU usage jumps down to around 10% or so. I think it's all the
things in AWGate that is doing this. You got all the people in vehicles, the
huge piano, all the added graphics, and tons of people there, more than we
had in 3.6. So that has to be something to do with it. I emailed Support so
I'll see what they say about it. 2 people have told me so far that it's a
bug in 4.1 that doesn't close down commands within the program structure
when they are finished using them. I even tried setting the Priority in
Windows Task Manager to "Low" and that does absolutely nothing. I just won't
hang around in AWGate much if this keeps up.
