Am I the only person to whom it looks... bad, really really really really
really REALLY bad? everybody else seems to love GSK's movie submission but
.... whenever I look at it, it's like I'm watching someone walk through Orton
Strip Mall in SW City with 200 meter vis in software render mode >_< AW
around me is running rather smoothly at 20 or more frames per second,
though, and the surrounding environment is not jerky at all whatsoever; the
movie itself reports an fps of around 12 to 17 (though the footage LOOKS
like two frames per second--at least to me.)

I like to give people the benefit of a doubt... I want very badly to believe
that I'm simply not viewing GSK's movie at optimum performance. Therefore, I
NEED somebody to prove to me that it isn't... well... crap. When I look at
it in AW, I see crap. I would very much appreciate a URL from which I can
download the movie MANUALLY and watch it through a stable, completely
un-bogged movie player on my pc without any possibility of interferance...
because I honestly want to believe that a winning prize was given to a turd.

Don't let GSK hear you say that, he'll rip your head off. And I will, for
that matter.

Dam its slow, yeah its FPS is rubbish but I don't see what is so special
about it, theres 0 talent in it apart from running around several worlds and
then encoding it with some music. Look at pinerivers stuff hes actually made
efforts to tidy it up and put special cut scenes in and all.

Above is GSK's movie, compare it to one of these other ones.

See the difference?!

People think that making AW movies is all about jumping into random
worlds and flying about =/ Needs to be more clear what movies really
should be about

As insulting as my post was, and as refreshingly uncharacteristic it was of
me to post something that offended someone, I'm here to see if GSK's movie
DOESN'T suck, not to hear people threaten me about if it does. If you wanna
kill somebody over a bad movie, kill who made it or something >_>

But I digress. Seriously. Can you or ANYBODY supply me with a download link
so I can see it outisde of AW just in case AW was making it underperform
somehow? If my speaking up about this accidentally changes some opinions,
well, that wasn't my intention. I want MY opinion changed--I prefer to think
highly of people and you can be damned sure my behavior improves once
weights like this are lifted off of me, and the only thing that has a shot
of improving my outlook of GSK's movie is to download it, as a file, from a
server, permanently onto my hard drive until I see fit to delete it, where I
can view it in a compatible program of my choosing that does not have the
memory-sucking capabilities of Activeworlds.

I already asked GSK if he could send me the movie. He said he gave it to
AWEC >_> and doesn't have a copy anymore. That somewhat puzzled me, but all
in all it means I need somebody -ELSE'S- help with this, preferably the URL
in the media command of that sign. Now, is there Anybody Anywhere who KNOWS
Anybody Anywhere who MIGHT give me that link so I can see this thing for its
true colors and perhaps respect GSK's work rather than doubt it!?

This is what you all need to use when critiquing someone else's creative
work. Usually along with the parts you didn't like, you'd include some
suggestions on how to make it better along with an overview of the parts you
did like. GSK is likely first starting out into the worlds of video
capture and editing. So give him a break. He ain't gonna be the next
Spielberg on his first outing.

I too want a copy of GSK's work so telegram me if you have it.

Sorry, immediately after posting I realised a typo was to blame. =P Here
are the offending lines:

I'm guessing you missed a "don't" in there ^_^

Yes, yes ^^; THANK YOU so much for giving me the benefit of a doubt... I
found the typo too but ... I almost felt it was too late... wish you could
go back and edit posts within a few minutes of just putting it there. *sigh*
oh well.
LtBrenton, your faith has restored MY faith, in the rest of humanity... at
least a little bit. Believe me, reading what you said made my day.

I did indeed mean that "I honestly DON'T want to believe that the winning
prize was given to a turd."

Again... Thank you. (Even i'm surprised at how much that meant to me... heh
:D )

You're definitely right, chris... I let my worst enemy, a bad mood, deflect
my better judgement :( I am ashamed that I said such cruel things about
GSK's movie... though I certainly wouldn't like to assume he's a newbie.
There's Always room for improvement and I always used to pride myself on
believing that Everybody can do better if they try. I lost sight of that and
quite frankly this has already been made into one of the flashbacks amid all
the others in the slideshow of Wrong Things I've Done.

I'm terribly sorry, GSK. You did the best you could. and the effort ALONE is
more than respectable ^_^
