FYI AW Inc. is NOT Activeworlds, Inc. (Community)
FYI AW Inc. is NOT Activeworlds, Inc. // Community
Nov 2, 2004, 1:01pm
Hi guys,
Just so you are aware, there have been several tourists coming into AW and
talking about this "new, cool, adult universe that AW Inc. is running". If
you check out the site (which is now on our eject list) you will see that
they copyright and license everything, AW, Inc.
This is NOT an Activeworlds, Inc. software developement or partner. It is
however a sleazy attempt for a chat site that seems to be using VZones with
naked avatars trying to pass itself off to the unwary.
Make sure you clearly understand the license agreement and you trust the
vendor of whatever software you download and run.

They should be notified, as well as PKs, because it's something AWI has
instituted ... otherwise if people get ejected for saying the urls and
GKs/PKs are not aware it will cause further confusion. Also, a suggestion,
why not have a sign or warning at the gate that certain urls will cause
ejection? Not all who speak them are doing it to spam.

If I was being totally synical I would take this opertunity to point out how
much cash AWI would make from creating a Gor universe on a seperate host,
with increased prices (std procedure for adult products) and banning it in
AW...

Because 99% of them dont know anything outside AWGate exists and hence, dont
know that these newsgroups exist, hence forth they will not have seen this
message.

From what I recall this world was created for these members of dreamscape
and vrzones that required a "adult" related world. I think it was around
2000 when it was created.
Its based of the now defunk Habitat software from Fututsi (thinks thats the
spelling) Fututsi ceased delevloping the software and when I talked to them
a few years ago they more or less sold everthing off, no dought to Stratagem
Corp who are developing it.
To make sure "adult" related material was seperated from the child
accessable worlds they created this world Enzo states.
Plus they can charge more and make more returns.

I agree with a Gor universe as long as those Gor world owners get to
have the worlds and citizenships transferred to this new universe at no
extra charge (until renewal time that is).

There is no such thing as "freedom of speech" when your in someone else's place of Business.
If you do not agree with that, then you ARE free to NOT enter that place of Business.

I realize bud that you don't understand what freedom is and im sorry but
there ARE things you can and cant say and do when you have a business I know
however I think its unfair to ask ppl not to say certain words and phrases
just because the owner of that business is afraid of the compitition has
nothing to do with me IF he would pay that much attention to running
the business FOR the customers then he would not have to worry that we go
find other products right? you know it is :-)

I TOTALLY understand what freedom means and is......what I do not understand is why you cannot understand how freedom applies to this Virtual Reality Software. Please get over it.....you, nor I, will never have a say in how freedoms are issued in this environment.....PERIOD.

When I was in Phoenix this last Spring, my Sister and Neice and I went to a
restaurant for Mother's Day.
As we were sitting on the porch, waiting for our names to be called for a
table....
A vehicle pulled up and a lady jumped out with a handful of flyers in her
hand.
She ran up onto the restaurants porch and proceeded to holler out "NO
WAITING AT ******* Restaurant!" (A competitor down the block).
She then passed out the flyers which had a menu and specials on them for the
competeing restaurant.
I personally was offended at a competitor or one of thier employees or
patrons, interrupting my relaxing evening.
I immediately felt that what that person did was lower the image of thier
restaurant, and I will personally never eat at the intruders establishment
again.
In comparison, if a person wants to announce competition establishment, they
should do so either with thier friends in a non public place, or make a link
on a webpage, and let folks READ that advertising at thier liesure.
And that's all I have to say about that:)

I'll just copy and paste this.. with some editing for context.
You know what, while we're at it, let's just blame each of the other 30% of
the country who voted republican primarily because of a different issue than
religion. I'm not a Bush supporter by any means, as I voted for someone
else, but let me point out to you something that you insightfully failed to
consider. Any of those groups can be blamed for tipping the election in
favor of Bush, so why are you singling out people who did so because of a
moral basis? What about the Neocons? Or the Gun-toting Capitalists? Hell,
how about the New York police and fire fighting forces?
There are better ways to express your anger for religion without projecting
it into your brand of politicking. Set up a dart board with Jesus' head on
it.
If there's one reason why I'm flustered, it's not because I practice a
particular religion and you happen to be bashing it among others. That
happens every day so please don't think me so petty as to sink down to that
level. It's because you can't seem to think of a well-thought out reason
why this group of people are to blame for four more years of wailing and
gnashing of teeth. If anything, its your liberal attitude that's
responsible for what you perceive as a sucky four years. So stop whining,
suck it up, and prepare for the next election. Whining never solved
anything. And Mr. Kerry has already figured that out. I suggest you go
back and re-read this post with that in mind so you don't reply thinking I'm
angry because of my religious roots.
Because, quite honestly... I can't stand the stupidity.
