here is a very interesting site that explains everything about cristmas,
and both the religious and 'santa' parts of it. http://www.didyouknow.cd/xmas/xmas.htm It says that Jesus was actually born on arround March of 6BC and that there are no reindeer at the North Pole. There are, however, lots of reindeer in Lapland, Finland and that Santa Claus lives on Korvatunturi Mountain, in the Savukoski county of Lapland, Finland, on the Finnish-Russian border alexthemartianDec 22, 2003, 11:25pm

That page spreads the "modern Santa was invented by Coca Cola" myth,
which is shown to be false on snopes.com [View Quote] ep0chDec 23, 2003, 2:19am
I think "Santa" lives in China, as all the labels say "Made in China" :P Yet

howstuffworks.com also did something like this but it mention other neat
little tid bits such as Rudolf's original name. He was first known as Rollo the red nosed reindeer. But the executives of the publishing company that published the book that made the reindeer "famous" didn't like that name and changed it to Rudolf, the daughter of the author and yes it was actually a girl's name back then O_o [View Quote] tart sugarDec 24, 2003, 11:48am
Yep. Yep. I believe Chicago businessman, Montgomery Ward, wrote the story of
Rudolph to bring business into his store. And did you also know that Mickey Mouse's first name was to be Mortimer? But Walt Disney's wife said "Mortimer" sounded too stuffy and hoity-toity. Thank Goodness. HaHaHa Tart Sugar [View Quote] |
