Pay extra for tourists. Bad idea. (Community)
Pay extra for tourists. Bad idea. // CommunityferruccioNov 15, 2003, 5:42am
If AWI thinks that they will get additional income from this, in the long
run, they won't. Many potential customers won't be able to see as many private worlds, as well as public worlds, therefore their interest in subscribing will be inundated. If it could just be a simple check box in the world features, then more people would be willing to let tourists come in their worlds. That way, tourists will get to see more of what Active Worlds has to offer, and be more inclined to subscribe. Also, look at all the world owners who are letting their worlds expire these days due to the exceedingly high prices as of the beginning of 2002. Basically, you should not have to pay extra for tourists, nor should you have to pay these outrageous prices for worlds. AWI, you are losing customers! There is a fine balance between the number of world owners you get, and the price of private worlds. It is obvious that you are too far on one side. baroNov 15, 2003, 7:47am
I've got a couple dead horses out back if you'd like a whack at them too.
(not that I don't 100% agree with you) [View Quote] wizard myrddinNov 15, 2003, 10:59am
Looking at it in economics' with the last price hype of 300% and the number
of members that have left there properly be little difference to the income of AWI.inc, these that went to other universes still paid an 69 dollar fee to aw no matter where they went. So looking at it like that aw could afford to lose 2/3rd of its membership and still be in the same situation it was 2 years ago as the remaining members pay the 200% extra on membership fees. Then looking at the staff that have left aw and not replaced you see a saving in wages. So why bother allowing tourists back into Alphaworld when its not effecting profits? At the end of the day its business nothing else. if people are willing to pay good. I have no dought aw.inc considered the losing of X number of members and calculated for this in pricing.. O well [View Quote] brockNov 15, 2003, 11:22am
I liked when aw took tourist rights only allowing them into a few worlds.
Tourists are free loaders, they are getting way too many rights that they don't deserve. They should stop freeloading and pay the damn 70 dollars. -- Brock AW: 308723 Owner: IceFlare Networks IceFlare Hosting Services Virtual World Broadcasting Network [View Quote] bowen ten.sardna@newobNov 15, 2003, 3:56pm

Not everyone can pay 70 dollars. Anyways i sent a telegram about why they're
losing money and how they could fix it, but should I expect him to anything more than delete it? No. Gram: You want to know the real reason AW is dying? You keep hiking the prices of citizenships and worlds. If you made both cheaper, then there would be a flood of new users and worlds. Once new 3d Chat applications like this come out 100x100 coordinates will be a joke. Every time i have GK duty I see more and more citizens leaving AW on account of the prices. EVERY single time. Usually 2 or 3 leave. Only thing keeping AW out of the garbage can is tourists sticking around and possibly buying citizenships in the future. A reasonable price for a citizenship would be 20-40/year. Like the old times when there were 1000 users on here at once. Take my advice, try lowering prices. You may loose a few dollars at first, but then the investment will come though and make more money than before. Hi everyone:
[View Quote] How are they freeloading? Sure they can get on AlphaWorld, but all they can do is talk to people in public and explore. They can't build. So how exactly do you figure they're "getting rights they don't deserve"? Cheers forr now :-) Patrick --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. from what I can see, AW has already lost over 2/3 of it's userbase, and they
are still losing more people than are subscribing. lioness.Nov 16, 2003, 6:25am
Yeah and when my cit runs out and I choose to use that money to pay my bills
or feed my family, I will be one of those tourists once again. Although I'm not quite sure how I will be "freeloading" since I won't be able to build where I want to and won't have a contact list, grams and can't play in most games or contests. Mind telling me how I will be "freeloading"?? The only way I can remain a cit is if I win an extension or if I hit it big when playing the lottery. You might have that kind of money to throw around but people like me, don't. So please keep your insults to yourself when referring to tourists. You were probably one a long time ago and you might possibly wind up being one again if your luck runs out. 0_0 [View Quote] |
