How Syntax Got "Lost".... // Communitypc hamsterJul 3, 2003, 8:35pm
Hi everyone:
The following is an account of a true story. Hiccup bags are STRONGLY advised. :-) |*ROTFLMAO!* Once upon a time yesterday as I was busy working on my new pub in the Old Cedar Town District of Hamsterville, I suddenly got a SURPRISE visit from Syntax. His reason was that he "got lost". Now KNOWING that the Syntax I *thought* I knew would know hot to get back to SW City from practically ANYWHERE, I was thinking "Hmm..." and eventually told me to follow me. The first time around, he heard Comit calling him and he left. I went back to what I was doing. TWENTY MINUTES LATES, he comes back but THIS TIME he had a friend with him. He tells he he "got lost AGAIN" and needed help in getting back to SW City. After getting MY OWN bearings straight (afterall I *was* working on getting the TV stations set up in the pub), I *finally* managed to get as far as Intertown Highway 55 at Retsmah Road East. I told him he'd eventually run into the Riverside Expressway which will take him to Syntax Road going into SW City. So I sent him on his way and | went back to the pub. A few minutes after I got back to the pub, I he telegrammed me asking which way should he turn. IN MY OWN SELF-ADMITTED STUPIDITY, I said "Hang a right" thinking that if I was wrong he'd just turn around. I then told him that he'd be taking the scenic route back. He responded with something to the effect that he thinks he's lost AGAIN. I thought to myself THREE TIMES - IN ONE DAY??? IMPOSSIBLE. So I asked him which direction he was going. He said NW. I told him that doersn't sound right and asked to let me join him (I remembered later on that if you were to hang a right at Intertown Highway 55 & Riverside Expressway, he WOULD be headed back to the place HE WAS TRYING TO LEAVE). When I joined him, guess where he was... WAY OVER on the WEST side of town in the EMBASSY PARK DISTRICT. By THIS time, I was asking myself HOW is it that this guy could get himself SO LOST that he couldn't even get back to SW City by highway - EVEN IF HE WAS ON THE RIGHT ONE?? It just seemed like it was a weird dream!! Anyway, I get him turned around AGAIN (this time we WERE on the Riverside Expressway) when I get a telegram from BlankaM announcing her return. Knowing that I had to catch her while she was online so she and I could discuss the building of her hotel at Hamsterville GZ (she's online like once in a blue moon), I didn't have time to help poor Syntax find his way back to the city he calls home, so I took him to where he could find a teleporter. I took him to the Bus Station on Harborview Avenue. I even rode my bike right on up to the stop and told him he could POSSIBLY miss THIS. He didn't. He was back in SW City and I was, after a few minutes, on my way to Hamsterville GZ where I would meet up with the virtually lovely BlankaM to discuss her hotel. :-) I telegrammed him later reminding him that he was ON HIS OWN when it came to finding his virtual private residence from the SW City Bus Terminal as I know how to navigate my way around SW City about as well as Syntax quite obviously knows how to navigate through Hamsterville. :-) *LOL!* Now mind you, I'm NOT angry that this happened. But I was a *little* perplexed. I later realized that this would get quite a few laughs once posted to message boards and newsgroups. :-) So Syntax....Don't say I didn't warn ya. :-) Enjoy the laughs everyone :-) Cheers for now :-) PC Hamster Mayor - City of Hamsterville pchamster at comcast.net Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Uh huh. Yeah right. IF this is true then HOW is it you were still able to remember the event in our conversation some 24 hours LATER?!?!? :-P :-) And to answer your question Baro, 1). I don't typically keep the Bus Station in my TELEPORTS section because I generally don't go anywhere that I can't get to via road and 2). We were actually CLOSER to the highway which runs all the way up syntax Road going into SW City via the ocean than we were to the Bus Station, which is why I pointed him in that direction (BTW Vornox....Did you FINALLY build a bridge from there and string it across the ocean so road travel into SW City proper would be possible or is that still a WIP? Just wondering... :-)). 3). I usually don't encounter "lost" people on an everyday basis (thank goodness!) :-) Cheers for now everyone :-) PC Hamster Mayor - City Of Hamsterville pchamster at comcast.net Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. It just makes me laugh (and appriciate) how 'realistic' you make AlphaWorld
and SW City sound when you refer to it with such implicable and specific directions. I wonder though, if yall could give such precise directions of your own RL home towns ;) LF goober kingJul 4, 2003, 3:45pm
That's Hamster for ya. Sometimes I worry that he may be treating AW as a

Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Yeah! PLUS....Look who runs UTN. Look who has a town on AWTeen (AlphaWorld's sister world). Need we go on?? :-) In short Goober, to some of us, AW resembles what ALL OF US who build there like to believe is real. It also gives us to "relive" our childhood by building a town based on the more simpler times of our childhood years. :-) Someting to think about :-) PC Hamster Mayor - City Of Hamsterville pchamster at comcast.net Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Err, what town in AWTeen?
And you're right, Light, we all do *sometimes*. It's when you do it *all* the time that it becomes worrisome... [View Quote] -- Goober King Taking a break from doing nothing awnews at awnews.org |
