I hold a vote of no confidence in the Gate Keeper organisation.
Obviously they have lost all discipline and sense of duty. Their primary job is to interact with users to the Gate in order that AW is promoted to new users. A new user will be put off from joining up if they see customers are ejected for no reasons. Secondly, many new citizens - such as myself, are worried that the duty of promoting and looking after this key location has been handed over to a gorup of users who are lacking a good sense of judgement. As a new user, I am irritated that paying customers have been ejected on illegal grounds. AWI should either intervene and ensure that discipline is put in place - or completley remove GateKeepers from their position. "quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" - "who will guard the guards?" Homopobic Gatekeeper?Jan 26, 2005, 1:59pm
Firstly its Homophobic, I imagine that it was just a typo.
Secondly, this action of ejection for the given reason is discrimination on behalf of the gatekeepers. Even your comment "I like males" is a ridiculous think to eject on, after all I imagine you have male friends. . . . This is another clear example of how undisciplined and ridiculous the GK's are. I still call for their dismissal. - Cal Leaving AW SoonApr 5, 2005, 8:41am
Hmm well I had a lot of telegrams from "Cute Mandy" also, constantly bugging
me and asking to join me, see my builds, personal questions. I thought it was a bit suspicious and just ignored it after awhile. Some advice, if someone is irritating you, mute & block them. I am glad I didnt get too involved. - Cal [View Quote] Leaving AW SoonApr 5, 2005, 9:12am
I disagree, my intention is not to flame but to give an example, a realist
example, of what the internet is like - especially to younger users. Its important not to give out personal details such as e-mail, phone etc to people that you cannot be fully sure off - even then, someone may appear be trustworthy but have a hidden agenda. This is a prime example what happens when you give too much details out, as sad as it is to say, a user has to be paranoid and cautious about EVERYTHING on the internet - people, emails and attachments. Again, it was not my intention to flame, I merely wanted to express how people can take your details and use them against you. - Cal [View Quote] OT: Water CampaignApr 9, 2005, 11:44am

Sorry for promoting something that is worthwhile and helps those in poverty.
I suppose I could do something equally pointless as staying in a room for a few days on Active Worlds - that sounds useful and a good use of time. I was merely informing people of a site which is an easy way to generate funding for those less fortunate. PS. My energy might not neccessarily come from a powerstation. -Callidus [View Quote] OT: Water CampaignApr 10, 2005, 3:54pm
Cheers, its such an easy way to at least give some support who are calling
out for help. Its perhaps the easiest thing I have seen a charity do, no donations, no petitions, no attending events - just a simple click of the mouse everytime you log online. Thanks for the support and all those who clicked. - Callidus [View Quote] New PopeApr 20, 2005, 2:59pm
Good points and I think a black or Latin pope might have been beneficial to
the world but I thought the whole point of the process [the choosing of a new Pope] is that Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit chooses the new Pope and acts through the Cardinals. I think its important to mention that the Catholic Church is not a political party that is deterred by public opinion, nor is the election of a Pope like a Presidential election where they hold public debates and such - yes many of the Cardinals have different political views, but just because a Pope may be conservative doesn't necessarily mean that the entire church will become conservative. I have two different feelings about the issue of a more right winged church (should it become that), one is where I am anxious about several issues such as condoms eg.. as birth control etc. but on the other hand I am pleased to see the Church isn't influenced by the public - after all, Catholics follow the Church, not the other way round. Initially, there is historical precedence for a Liberal church, the Protestant Church became more liberal and its current position today is somewhere between a mess and disfunctional. As much as I would have liked a Black Pope or someone from South America, it really isn't my choice. As a Catholic (And now I am going all out preachy here - excuse me) this is what God has chosen. Maybe its a good choice in that the Western world seems to have lost all sense of morality - which has been conviently covered by the veil of "Liberalism". I wish the new Pope well. - Callidus [View Quote] New PopeApr 20, 2005, 8:06pm

And your not being rude?
All cities start small - the fact that he is trying to start a city is honourable. Give the guy a break and stop being such a hypocrite; AW needs new members of the community - Cal [View Quote] about swcity.net...Apr 23, 2005, 8:34pm
I don't know about that issue and the validity of your statement sounds
uncertain and unverified. The key word is "apparently" - innocent until prooven guilty. However, I don't know the situation so I wont make anymore knowledge claims. Back to the topic, I will be glad when swcity.net gets back. :) [View Quote] |
