I agree with this one, we really need the worlds to become more dynamic. . .the staticness that surrounds them now is both boring,
and totally unneeded . ..we have the technology now to do this. . .why doesnt someone do a weather boit ? It could have several
differnt aspects. . .changing the backdrop when storms come . ..it could go back for nice sunny times. ..a tornado disaster that
ruins buildings, and of coruse, eeps rain an such. . .

someone msut be able to do this. .instead of writing those boring damn greeter and advertising bots (which do jack in my opinion),
you should all get along an do this. ..mm, *sigh*. . if only I could program . ..but maths pisses me off so i never did get into it
besides JS and HTML .. .

[View Quote] > Weather bots: moving clouds (maybe even a morphing algorythm or two to give the effect of actual clouds), storms (rain, snow,

SDK RESOURCE LIBRARY - ALPHA VERSION

Nov 3, 1998, 4:37am
Hi everyone,

I have jstu completed the Alpha version of an SDK Resource Library, as
some asked for one. . . I havnt bothered much with the cosmetics of the
site itself, I have mainly concentrated on the architecture of the
search and submision database.

Features of the AW SDK Resource Library are as follows

Dynamic Database for people to enter in Resource details (Resources can
be abything from source code to sample applications to wrappers etc etc
blah blah)
Searchable Database
File Library
Upload resources to the :Library File Library (so everything can be
shared from the one place).

I put a bit of thought into this over the weekend, and i really hope
that you guys will use it. Im not a programmer myself, but I do alot of
web application type stuff, and it's my hopes that this library will
enable you all to share your ideas and source code to everyone else . .
.. .

There *are* some bugs in the system, and yes, i know that the form boxes
have to be made bigger, but i'll do that tomorrow as I have other work
to do today, but, allt he submissions work, and any entries you make
will be displayed properly and coherantly. It runs off an Access
database, so it's pretty stable.

Give me your comments, and ideas for modifications etc etc, and tell me
basically if any of you have any use for this thing. . .if not, well,
it's been a learning thing anyways, so i guess I've got something out of
it =)

SDK Question...

Jan 14, 1999, 11:13pm
you know, it would be wonderful if you could setup a bot as a file-server, like in
IRC .. ..would make some things ssoooo handy =)

[View Quote] > But i just wonder...who in CoF is reading this NG?

probably no one anymore. . ...i havnt seen ANY COF employee post an
article in the newsgroup for about 2 months now...and i think maybe only
Lucrezia has abnything to do with it really . .. besides roland posting
with a bug fix beta message, theres hasnt been squat from anyone at COF.
.. . .

i'd kind of like to raise this question (it was a post in wishlist), and
im hoping that the moderator doesnt find it too out of line.

COF, where ARE you ?? We never see any posts, we have no word from you,
all we have is Lucrezia occasionally stating something in here, and her
doing the newsletter. And, sometimes we "get word" from Razzle (if your
a PK) as to something . .. but, for all intents and purposes, you have
no community presence anymore . . ..

It's kind of sad, because I dont get it. Does this have to do with legal
issues, and, if so, why not jstu say so and be done with it ? We the
citizens *need* contact with the company, because otherwise you get so
much rumour mongering . ..and, also, to tell you the truth, contact with
COF makes things in AW a little more tangible. Ie, i ahvnt been into AW
for ages, basically because i have found it has grown very very
stagnant. . ..something like the BallBot tho might fix this .
...otherwise. . .well, i have to say it, it has been damn boring in the
worlds lately.

Maybe it's jsut me, but i dunno .,. i hear alot of it . ..and mainly it
stems from the feeling that COF is letting things go in their community
interaction . ...and that people think to themselves, "well, if they
wont communicate with us, then why should we both trying to communicate
anything to them". . .

I dunno . .. jsut musings really . .. Im feeling a bit sad about all the
stagnation lately i guess. . I go into the beta group, and theres
nothing .. . and i look in here and there more of the same . ...things
jsut dont seem to be progressing anywhere . ..

mmmm

it's because the software is going anywhere, and is hardly being developed, and
isnt user friendly enough for there to be many people. It is stagnant.

If they developed something like the ActiveX control, they'd do a hell of alot
better, hell, even jstu updating it all the time instead of in lumps would make
alot more people happy.

Eep, have you seen Everquest yet ?

All they'd need to do is make some kind of building interface and they'd qipe anyone off the map . ..damn interesting game, gunna buy it when it comes out . ..

[View Quote] > I just want to see an online interactive real-time 3D VR environment actually DEVELOP. I don't care WHICH one it is but AW seems to be the farthest along...for now. I'm also interested in 3D Anarchy (http://attitudesoftware.com/) and Flatland (http://flatland.com/). Plus I naturally want to improve things (find bugs, make suggestions, etc) so complaining comes naturally too I guess. :) But I try to offer ways to alleviate the need for complaint in the first place, but I've been talking with COF for a while now so I realize it's hopeless for the most part--nothing left to do BUT complain. :/
