I agree with this one, we really need the worlds to become more dynamic. . .the staticness that surrounds them now is both boring,
and totally unneeded . ..we have the technology now to do this. . .why doesnt someone do a weather boit ? It could have several differnt aspects. . .changing the backdrop when storms come . ..it could go back for nice sunny times. ..a tornado disaster that ruins buildings, and of coruse, eeps rain an such. . . someone msut be able to do this. .instead of writing those boring damn greeter and advertising bots (which do jack in my opinion), you should all get along an do this. ..mm, *sigh*. . if only I could program . ..but maths pisses me off so i never did get into it besides JS and HTML .. . [View Quote] > Weather bots: moving clouds (maybe even a morphing algorythm or two to give the effect of actual clouds), storms (rain, snow, > hail, cats and dogs, whatever), fog, etc. Woo! Sure would look more realistic than animated textures on polygons that go too fast > or are too jerky if repeating frames... ideasFeb 5, 1999, 12:43am
hay man, yuo build the bot and i'll mkae the objects, or make sure that you GET the objects for weather. .seriously =)

Hay, who was doing the deerbot, and, how is the project going ? This was
one of the most exciting bot ideas i saw im the SDK besides the bot ball one .. jsut interested =) SDK RESOURCE LIBRARY - ALPHA VERSIONNov 3, 1998, 4:37am
Hi everyone,
I have jstu completed the Alpha version of an SDK Resource Library, as some asked for one. . . I havnt bothered much with the cosmetics of the site itself, I have mainly concentrated on the architecture of the search and submision database. Features of the AW SDK Resource Library are as follows Dynamic Database for people to enter in Resource details (Resources can be abything from source code to sample applications to wrappers etc etc blah blah) Searchable Database File Library Upload resources to the :Library File Library (so everything can be shared from the one place). I put a bit of thought into this over the weekend, and i really hope that you guys will use it. Im not a programmer myself, but I do alot of web application type stuff, and it's my hopes that this library will enable you all to share your ideas and source code to everyone else . . .. . There *are* some bugs in the system, and yes, i know that the form boxes have to be made bigger, but i'll do that tomorrow as I have other work to do today, but, allt he submissions work, and any entries you make will be displayed properly and coherantly. It runs off an Access database, so it's pretty stable. Give me your comments, and ideas for modifications etc etc, and tell me basically if any of you have any use for this thing. . .if not, well, it's been a learning thing anyways, so i guess I've got something out of it =) http://isg.curtin.edu.au/fletch/worlds/sdk/index.html Fac. SDK Question...Jan 14, 1999, 11:13pm
you know, it would be wonderful if you could setup a bot as a file-server, like in
IRC .. ..would make some things ssoooo handy =) [View Quote] > "from a preset directory on its server" would be the machine that the robot is > on but you didn't say where it is going to. > > An avatar is someone's PC with the AW browser on it. Eep, have you seen Everquest yet ?
All they'd need to do is make some kind of building interface and they'd qipe anyone off the map . ..damn interesting game, gunna buy it when it comes out . .. http://www.everquest.com/ [View Quote] > I just want to see an online interactive real-time 3D VR environment actually DEVELOP. I don't care WHICH one it is but AW seems to be the farthest along...for now. I'm also interested in 3D Anarchy (http://attitudesoftware.com/) and Flatland (http://flatland.com/). Plus I naturally want to improve things (find bugs, make suggestions, etc) so complaining comes naturally too I guess. :) But I try to offer ways to alleviate the need for complaint in the first place, but I've been talking with COF for a while now so I realize it's hopeless for the most part--nothing left to do BUT complain. :/ > [View Quote] -- Fletcher Andersen Internet Advisor Curtin Business School Internet Support Group (09)92664408 ICQ UIN:888331 andersenf at cbs.curtin.edu.au |
