MadMouse ! 5 stars for texturing and modeling.

You did a realy good job with youre warehousemech.

No question, this is a masteripiece and worth to shown on the cgtalk forum.

One crtic for the last pic where you insert the mech to a real photo.

Take the mech Layer in Photoshop (or wich programm u use) and add to this layer a photofilter with a touch of blue as environment from the sky.

This will give them a bit more realistic touch.

PURE AWESOME!

Best of many things (texturing, modeling, intergration of each part or object). Brilliant! now you just need to animate it ;).

Its a shame that I cant post renders large enough to do the detail justice  . Maybe when I post the final images I will also post a zipped up larger version so that it can be view at a larger, more detailed size.;)

Why not just host them on your website & post a link? There's no reason you can't do that, & nobody would mind [though I'm sure everyone will complain if you don't! ;)], the thing people don't like is when someone puts a too-large image in the post itself, as that causes people to have to scroll from side to side to read text in posts.

Great work, BTW, looks awesome.

I was worried about what you told us (rendering in pieces).

I thought it would be obvious and visible because of missing or bad shadows....

Pfew, I'm glad I was wrong ! I can't find any errors or seams ! You did a good job on that !:D

Also nice to see the desert scene up close, and this time not a couple of lonely legs ;)

Great work! Looking foward to the final warehouse render ! :jumpy:

BTW Regarding the previous discussion about safety... the warning message on the platform (warning of rotation) will make curious people (like me) go closer to read...and swiftly be decapitated when the platform swings around ;)

Good point, I was going to enter one of Harold's efforts but, short of the comedy factor, he will get trounced by this monster...hang on there's an idea for a new book...;)

I wanted to enter a rendering into the contest this month and then saw your CREATION! I just hope it has an Achilles Heel!
In my mind " He sucks at modeling"...nope he's great at modeling!
"He's going to mess up the textures"..."nope they look fantastic!"
" I bet he screws up the layout" ...shoot he did it again!
"Lighting that's the ticket......." ..........Long pause
Longer pause, "a heel I think theres a heel....."

Take your time, give us mere mortals a chance......

Fair comment Vizu. I did say this wasn't the finished render but I will try you suggestion. Thanks.

Ah now there's a story..... I wont bore you with the details (it a very long story) but I no longer have access to my web site:( . Which is why its so far out of date. In fact I'm amazed its still running. I keep meaning to get round to getting some web space and setting up another. Maybe in about 3-4 projects time :D

Lars!!! shame on you... did you really doubt me?? :D

I told you it wasn't a problem (except for animating) It was the textures that gave me problems on the model so all I had to do was paint half the Mech in a plain shader and the whole thing rendered fine, hence no missing shadows. then I just re composited it in PSP using masks that I'd rendered. hey presto no missing shadows or gaps. :D

don't worry guys.. I swear on my processor that I wont post in next months gallery comp. In fact I'm still considering not posting in the monthlys at all. Maybe I'll just slip them in next year and surprise everyone. :D

Ah, that soultion you have was a great tip ! Never thought about that :o

I believed you would for example hide things with layers...but to paint with a plain color, or even flat shading, that's brilliant! :D

He,he, did you miss what follow his lighting comment? .....long paus.

I interpreted it as him desperately looking at the lighting for flaws....and couldn't find anything wrong with that either, hence no achilles heel ;)

Damn I feel like a chapter of my life is coming to a close.

I have been religiously following this thread and the birth of your mech.

Now that you are nearing the finish line I wonder wht I will do during my lunch break now?

My sincerest congratulations and respect on a superb project. It has been a truly enjoyable experience sharing the creation of your mech.

I look forward to seeing the final glorious render.

MadMouse, I hope you're not feeling any pressure from us :D

Can see the headlines now:

"MadMouse commited to the funnyfarm, Doctors speculate if cause could be high expectations from Forum-Fans" :D

Nah, there is no way we can be dissapointed.... I personally think that the desert-image is perfect enough to be called a Final Render. :)

And if you'd put a warehouse building in the background... the work-title would have been correct

Chuckle! You have obviously spent a LOT of time thinking about this project! Do you dream about being chased by yellow mechs? I know that if I've been doing too much modelling I start to dream in wireframes!

Not a lot I can add Steve - I 've been away for a couple of days (New Zealand has just been hit by the biggest snowstorm in two decades and it's been a case of just trying to keep warm!) and in the meantime everyone else has taken all the best praise phrases! Let me just say congratulations on a superb and inspirational job - well done sir! You should feel very proud of yourself.

Like everyone else it's been a pleasure following your progress and I've also appreciated being part of the 'consultation team' from time to time. Hence I have more than just a casual interest in your palindromic mech - it's a true joy to see it so close to completion.

The desert scene looks great - I keep picturing Wiley E Coyote in the drivers seat waiting for roadrunner to zoom past!

Looking forward to seeing your mech finally integrated into your warehouse.... which leaves just one question - what are you gonna do next?:D
