No Confidence Vote (Community)
No Confidence Vote // CommunitykatalyztFeb 8, 2001, 11:23pm
This post is to vote upon the dismissal of the AWCI Management.
The board of directors has been a source of continuous embarrassment. The directors have been given many avenues to redeem themselves in the eyes of the newsgroup community, and have been given many opportunities to show themselves a decent, productive and respectful members thereof. Thus, it is the wish of the AW community, to put forth a vote to have the the current management removed for the foreseeable future. Votes are to be cast as one of two choices To have the management remain, please vote as: <citizen name - number> -"Stay" To vote to have them removed, please vote: <citizen name - number> - "Remove". In making your decision, please review recent past performance by these people, and use it to make your best judgment on the matter, namely: 1. Failure to create shareholder value. 2. Inability to attract new customers. 3. Technical incompetence as demonstrated by recent failures in Eduverse and Alphaworld. 4. Poor quality products and late delivery of enhancements. 5. Unacceptable customer relations and sales support. 6. Inadequate response to customer complaints. 7. Hiring of unskilled support staff. As the initiator of this vote, I begin the tally by casting my own, as an Active worlds citizen. Takeover 305600 - Remove. The voting has begun. (This is not a joke haha) sw comitFeb 8, 2001, 11:28pm

only cause if they're gone, we're gone, and the solution to most their problems, in my eyes, is to simply improve alphaworld. internal affairsFeb 8, 2001, 11:29pm

They don't know what they are doing. katalyztFeb 8, 2001, 11:40pm

aw has management? shows what i know.. and as far as the rest goes... your
claims all appear valid.. 1. Failure to create shareholder value. Agree 2. Inability to attract new customers. Disagree-for some reason ppl sign up daily.... 3. Technical incompetence as demonstrated by recent failures in Eduverse and Alphaworld. Somewhat agree-it usued to work great-i'm sure they can eventually get it working seamlessly again 4. Poor quality products and late delivery of enhancements. disagree-i've seen worse/later 5. Unacceptable customer relations and sales support. Strongly Disagree-although I hear a lot of complaints about this, I have gotten immediate responses from Facter and Noelle on all my questions/problems.. even help from facter when he wasn't on the clock.. 6. Inadequate response to customer complaints. Agree-I bet they have filters on for complaints... 7. Hiring of unskilled support staff. Somewhat agree-I have met an occasional staff member who seemed skilled and adequet, but I don't feel it is the majority, since I have only met so little amount of staff members that the others must be too unskilled to use their own software :-) J B E L L 306161 - Abstain -- J B E L L http://platinum.awjbell.com G O I N G P L A T I N U M [View Quote] sw comitFeb 8, 2001, 11:45pm
Even though this vote is pointless, why would you vote remove for? If they
really were removed, some new company would need to buy AW, and I doubt that wouldn't happen for some time considering how their stock is doing. If they were removed, all your work in AW would be dormant, if not deleted, since the server would be down. Oh wow, nice plan you got there katalyzt... eepFeb 8, 2001, 11:48pm
Eep - 198174 - Remove

I'm sorry but this is just funny. Its Eep vs. Facter. Community has nothing
to do with this crap other then this poor excuse for democracy. Let Eep stay or AWCI can go. -- -Xero wingFeb 9, 2001, 12:04am

Obviously I'm interested in better management. Kat emailed me about starting a new AWlike program, but we need more programmers (not kids just starting out). Any takers?

This may not be what you're looking for, but I'm uhh doing something
that may resemble AW slightly. I'm still developing, of course, but I'll be done with the final release by February 14th.. http://www.vrunited.net [View Quote] >Obviously I'm interested in better management. How many employees does Activeworlds.com, Inc. actually have? About a
dozen? I say bring back Ron Britvich (Protagonist) and Russell Freeland (Dataman). ;) -Builderz [View Quote] eepFeb 9, 2001, 1:36am
Interesting...any screenshots or demo or something to see the progress thus far? I'd be interesting in testing it if you need any help in that area. Also, if you don't already know, I have an AW improvements webpage at http://tnlc.com/eep/aw/improve.html that you may be able to implement into VR United.

Hmm.. I'll make some in a bit, the URL to them posted on the main page.
I've read your page, and I may try to implement your suggestions into VRU over time :) -- - Tony56 (Tony M.) [chandler56 at mail.com] "All typos are optical illusions" ____________________________________________________________ [View Quote] |
