You're not zactly batting 1000 today are ya? I SAID I was having FUN with it. And if we weren't supposed to have it why was it on
the standard upgrade path? A lot of your fellow beta testers didn't share your feelings of insecurity and were passing out
instructions on how to get it to all who were to dim to figure it out themselves.

You're batting 0 pal. CLOSED Beta. Do you know what the word "CLOSED" means?
Just because AWCI adds it to the upgrade path doesnt mean everyone can have
it. The upgrade software is how they wanted beta users to access it, and the
upgrade software can only access that one path. Be realistic children, One
programming mistake on Roland's part and b00m, your comp is gone. Tbird
1.2GHz, standard fan. Memory leak left over time. CPU maxes out at 100% for
20 minutes while you're away cuz its dealing with a huge swapfile. CPU heats
to extreme tempertures to the point where heatsink/fan can't keep up.
Instant CPU burnout. Using beta software is putting that $2k wonderbox on
the line. I haven't really read any warentys because my overclocking habits
void them anyway but it's logical to include use of potentially damaging
software as a way to void it on certain equipment (motherboard, RAM, video,
CPU, HDD). Think before you talk, twit.
Wow, I'm becoming a hardware Eep.

having fun. The beta should have been made available to all
upgrade a COPY of 3.0 (which I did). I noticed in the chat that

Well good for you, wing. I'm a big fan of eep. And just to show I'm not one of those insecure peeps who resort to correcting
spelling errors, I won't mention the incorrect spelling of "warrantees". I DID take an INFORMED calculated risk to have some fun.
The beta had been out for several days and some of the inexperienced users that were allowed to beta test would likely have caught
such expensive anomalies. Also, only a complete nitwit would leave a beta alone for 20 minutes. There -- I've made a good point for
including inexperienced users and nitwits in the beta test. BTW -- the upgrade proggy takes any URL you give it for an upgrade path
if you use a DOS prompt or "run" so the beta could have been made REALLY closed.

At least somebody in this godforsaken NG has a sense of humor. Actually my trusty spellchecker says either spelling is correct.

Roland said at TechTalk that he may add more beta testers when the beta
is a bit more stable. He has no plans yet how they would sign up though.
There may be no public beta at all if the closed rounds go well.
The final release will be in "a few weeks".
About how he chose the first group:
"first, there was a very small group of users who I personally wanted on beta, about 10 or so
these people had demonstrated an ability to provide excellent feedback and knowledge of the product in past betas
after that, I needed about 10 or 15 more...so I picked those at random out of a *very* large pool of qualified people
so, that's how I got 25 beta users"

In other words, you have a crappy computer? Any decent computer can handle a
load of 100% 24h a day, week after week. If not, something is very wrong. By
the way, dealing with a huge swap file is *never* going to max your CPU out.
Disks are very slow compared to the CPU, so if you are doing disk work, most
of the time the CPU is waiting (and therefore not generating much heat).
> Using beta software is putting that $2k wonderbox on

That's bull shit at best. Software is not going to destroy hardware, unless
the hardware is already broken.
> I haven't really read any warentys because my overclocking habits
> void them anyway
Ah, so you overclock your computer? In that case, it's entirely your fault
when something goes wrong. And again, if you overclock your CPU so much it
breaks when you use it completely, you did something wrong anyway.
Non-overclocked CPU's will *NOT* break at 100%.
> but it's logical to include use of potentially damaging

Software can completely mess up other software. In that way it can be
damaging. But it's not going to damage your computer.
> as a way to void it on certain equipment (motherboard, RAM, video,

Think before *YOU* talk.

At least Eep knows what he's talking about.
