Somethin wrong with AW? (prolly my cable...) // CommunitynornnyNov 12, 2000, 6:14pm
Just checking to see. :) I haven't been able to get into the Activeworlds
browser yet today. It just says Logging in for a minute or so and then says unable to connect or something like that. My only problem that I had today was that my at home cable connection wasn't connecting the day before, and with the help of Tech Support, my dad was able to get everything working again, but at the expense of AW not working. Anyone else have this problem? Ever since i got at home cable, it's been a struggle to get into AW a lot of times. The Logging in screen freezes up if I leave the computer on standby and turn it on again, for example. But I can deal with that, at least i was able to Log In with a shut down or restart of my computer. Now I can't even get that far. :) Nornny agent1Nov 12, 2000, 6:18pm
Well, my at Home (*barf* ;D) connection wasn't working yesterday afternoon, either... I just left it alone and can connect to AW fine
now. Hmm... Yell at Tech Support :) -Agent1 [View Quote] zeroNov 12, 2000, 6:54pm

It's nowhere near free. :) at home is a cable internet service, prolly used by
most cable internet users. I got mine through AT&T Broadband, but that's only for the state of CT. :) Everyone else gets it through another cable or phone company. It costs 40$ a month for constant server downs, multiple attempts at installation, days at a time without internet, and oh yeah, faster speeds. :/ I HATE comprimise. Btw, AW still doesn't work. :/ Nornny [View Quote] c o y o t eNov 12, 2000, 7:53pm

Trust me, cable and dsl might look amazing from a person without it, but if
you have at least a decent 56k connection, YOU'RE the lucky one. :) So the speed is significantly quicker, trust me, you get just as impatient for pages to load anyways, just quicker. :) Nornny [View Quote] nornnyNov 12, 2000, 11:33pm

Don't care. I need higher download rates as I download tons of game demos
sometimes. Also it may be enough for 2 users to play an online game at the same time? 56k with 2 users on that connection in a game at the same time...what a ping! I need cable. Even if a website is loading on another computer, lags. Ping gets higher till done. I bet cable can do better than a 56k. [View Quote] the derekNov 13, 2000, 2:33am

<html> i dunno how dsl could be faster than a dsl connection..... and i got 28K and phone line is too old for it to support a 56K [View Quote] facter @Nov 13, 2000, 6:39pm
There was a major router down in the Denver area which affected alot of
peoples connections to our servers on Sunday - there was nothing up with our servers, they ran perfectly all weekend. Unfortunatly, we cant do much about other network services router problems =/ Facter Technical Support Specialist Activeworlds.com [View Quote] nornnyNov 13, 2000, 8:17pm
That was prolly it. :) I was able to log in by the next day, but thanks. :)
Now I know it wasn't a problem with my cable. :) Nornny [View Quote] |
