i think there should be a max and min to the size of the corona, because
when u put them on streetlights (lets say) they look fine untell u get a bit
far, then they are just way too big

The size doesn't change at all. But all the other objects shrink because you
are moving farther away. They weren't designed to be used as regular lights,
but so you could have a realistic sunlight effect.

From the help documentation ... "The primary purpose of coronas is for
creating "halo" effects around local light sources."

To me that means in AW a corona is intended as an effect for a specific
light. Anyway, coronas are only of any use in a static environment as they
stand because there are so many issues with them. I've had instances of the
corona not disappearing after a FadeOut effect, the color being affected by
lights that are shining on that object and then there's this fading lark
when the light is first applied to the object (or it first comes into view).

Lights and coronas need some "tuning" really, but I'll wait until 3.4
arrives before I really have my say. There are some things that really need
some addressing to clean up the whole package a little. That would be my
wish anyway.

That removes all my fun though. I've got a blastzone out in the middle of
nowhere in AWTeen, and I do some testing of the limits of coronas. Hell,
I've made an explosive that is so violent it has been known to make AW want
to forcequit after a while! Lotsa size can make it look like an explosion.

That's why I don't want a max size. Min size, fine. But NO max size.

I think the point was for a "maxsize=x" type parameter to the corona action
command, not hardcoded in the browser.

What about a corona that gets smaller as you move away? Wouldn't that be
what a light does? LOL. You start moving away from it and it gets smaller
and smaller, it doesn't stop at a certain size. :-P

make me happy...

Well those blurs that you see of lights are actually coronas, or a form of
it. They never change in size, that's why they look so huge from a
distance. Your eyes will usually resolve the distance so if it gets too
small they dissappear and you just see the light or when you get to close
your eyes will focuse and you won't see it anymore.

They kind of have a strange effect when you keep moving out. They don't look
right.

or even better, they should be rendered getting smaller etc as soon as you add a create light command.

Actually, the it's not the size that's a problem. If you want them to behave as a real lense flare, their opacity should be multiplied by the inverse square of the distance. In other words, at four times as far away should look half as bright, and nine times as far away they should look one third as bright, and at 25 times as far away they should look one fifth as bright. That way, a far away light corona wouldn't look so blinding, but would instead look more accurately realistic..
