I had an idea:

Aw put a page on their website, "Enter your ftp details here"
you enter your ftp details.. you are presented with a page where you select
what items of the ops you want to enter.....

you click upload and then aw upload it or you... :D

lol... maybe enter citizen name and password too so they know who its
for..lol

Major bandwidth lag??? just a suggestion.. :-(

bandwidth hog. Sounds good but unfortunately AW can't afford to shovel out
much more bandwidth.

You mean uploads to AW's public object path?

I don't think that this is such a good idea, people could
upload stuff that crashes browsers or causes major lag and
then vandalize AlphaWorld.

I think he means that he wants AW to make it easier to upload the general AW
objects to your OP by entering your FTP information on their site.

Need a registry to use the stuff though, but I doubt that would happen. I
think he wants a script so he can upload files without having to call up an
FTP program. Could be good for those who are less computer inclined. :D

or for those that want to play WarCraft while it's uploading and can't with
FTP cause it causes the whole computer to go as slow as heck!

You must have one graphically interfaced ftp.

DOS' FTP is nice, so is WS_FTP, don't cause much lag on my machine :P

I use WS_FTP. Not a clue why my entire computer slows down. I think I'm
about ready for a reformat but I don't wanna! Reformatting is annoying and
boring! :-P

I think I may know why, you have those pop up windows and you're using
active FTP. Try using passive FTP without those pop up windows. See if
that helps ya. Also you might be using WS_FTP pro, I use LE.

I use LE as well and no pop-ups but I don't use passive FTP so I'll try
that. Thanks. :-)

ftp://ftp.activeworlds.com/AW_set/*.zip
ftp://ftp.activeworlds.com/CA_set/*.zip

If you can use telnet on your OP server, you can just FTP
to this place and download the (old) object sets and should
have quite a good speed.

If you cannot do that, there's still a possible way. Some FTP
clients support FXP, (e.g. http://www.iglooftp.com/windows/),
which allows to controll one FTP server to get stuff from
a second FTP server without going through your PC.

Otoh I think it's always good to have a copy of the stuff on
your local PC as a backup dopy.

You can find some more FXP client links on
