Hi does anyone have Discreet's 3D Studiomax 4.0, 4.2 or 5.0 If so can you
please contact me, I need the following .cab files. 3dmaxsetup2.cab
3dmaxsetup3.cab and 3dmaxsetup4.cab.
The disk I have is corrupted (scratched) on these files and are badly
needed!

Are they not all the files you need to setup the entire program with the setup EXE contained in 1 of em?

Max is a HUGE program....... There's most likely a LOT more .cab files
involved than just those 3...... I'm sure he isnt just looking for a free
ride Mark. I'd be willing to bet we've all done dumb things before and not
been careful with install disks and such ;O)

Usually a software company will replace a damaged CD when you send
them the old original one.

I meant to corrupt all of those files ud need 1 pritty big darn scratch, note to all: awlays make backups of cds, just keep em to urself.

believe it or not, it doesnt take much :O/ i've done it....... the info is
packed so densely on a cd, it doesnt take a very big scratch..... wish
they'd come out with multi head cd units, like they have for home stereos...
they're much better with scratches cause they read from 3 angles....

Yep thats aways the best advice, companies usually send of replaced CD's to
registered customers quite fast. I had one sent more or less next day
delivery from USA.

Then at least you know the replacment cd is correct with all progs included.

During the install, it found 3 files it could not copy to the Hard drive
they were each read and I was read presented with this warning: Error:c
Setup cannot copy file D:\3dsmax4/3dmaxsetup2.cab The file is either damged
or unreadable media. I was allowed to skip file. Then the same happend with
3dmaxsetup3.cab and 3dmaxsetup4.cab.
I was allowed to skip these files but eventually the install said it could
not continue with out these files and proceeded to uninstall its self. The
install read the rest of the disk however, because I watched it install
(read the file names as it installed) several times and compared the
contents of the CD by exploring it
3D Studiomax version 4 is no longer warrenteed because 3d studiomax 5.0 is
out at over a $2,000.00 price tag.
All I need is those 3 .cabs there are 9 .cabs altogether 2, 3 and 4 are the
only ones that fail to be read.

Ok People thanks for the help. I tried a cleaning solution on disk No.1 and
it read through the scratch. Problem solved!

There is a kit you can sometimes find at the computer or music store that
lets you polish/fill in scratches that might help you repair the disc enough
to use it again
