For a couple of days, in one of my worlds I keep seeing random flashes. It
looks sometimes like a gray box bouncing off the side browser and at other
times, just flashes of brighter light. I have no idea what it is.

This evening, I went into another one of my worlds and all of a sudden I can
see the line of every seam, sides and top, of the skybox. The same skybox
has been in there for 3 years!

What is going on? Anyone know?

you by anychance just switch your video mode to DirectX? because when i did
that, though it was a huge improvement from software rendering(didn't know i
had it set at that till recently) it made certain things, especially
textures with a sort of gradient fade from one colour to another, seam
wierd. maybe it's that?

It sounds like you're running in OpenGL mode. Check your video display
settings.

I did, I was, then it didn't! lol I always use Direct3D and tick T&L
support. But I checked just to make sure and hmmmmm.....there I was on Open
GL : / Must have been in a hurry when I set up the settings after
redownloading the browswer not to long ago. Happy that someone had such
insight and it was an easy fix, I changed it, restarted, entered my world
and *Flash!!* :( Back to the drawing board. Still looking for an
answer. Thanks for taking my attention to my video settings, though :) At
least that got fixed!

[View Quote] This type of posted reply from the single guy in the NGs bandwidth police
department? :D
Just poking fun... now on to the rest of the program...

[View Quote] Others have already stated that it might be your video settings, and I agree
with that possibility. My son has software that changes my resolution down
to 800x600, and then decides to put it back to my original resolution, but
in 32 bit instead of 16 bit... so when I go into Active Worlds next, directx
flakes out and complains that it has to enter software render mode... and
that just plain sucks!

BTW: anyone know why the browser doesn't force the PC to change to 16 bit
if that is all it can use? Annoying "feature" that. :-P

here's what i'm wondering, do dead people really wear cloths? I mean, how
can a spirit be carrying cloths around? seams a little strange to me.
So are all dead people walking around naked then?

Only the fit girls.

My male mind requires that all unattractive women and all other men are cast

On a laptop I run, the background flashes because that's just a problem with
the type of video card it has. You didn't just change video cards (or
computers), did you?

No, I haven't changed video cards. I just bought this computer and started
using it in November. It runs a NVIDIA GeForce 6800 and I have my settings
on Direct3D with T&L Hardware support. And............still flashing
:( Really, I hadn't changed anything. The flashing has only started within
the last couple weeks. I'm lost.

Have you changed any fog settings in this world recently, and what world is
this? Since it is only happening in one world for you, I almost think it
might be something in the world. Maybe I can come and see :)
