A Memorial Build for Hurricane Katrine Victims
I think its a good idea to make something to express our feelings about the tragedy unfolding before our eyes on television. While we remain helpless to participate in the rescues and efforts to help people(except through our donations) creating something in AW to express our feelings will help our frustration, but also remain for those who return to AW when the crisis has passed. Hopefully, seeing we cared so much will help lighten the load they carry. And it can give us time to contemplate and pray for the victims. For those who choose, life gives lessons through the tragedies of others, may we rise to the occasion, if we are ever caught up in a major disaster. For some, terrible circumstances lower their morals and they become less than human, but others see disaster and rise above, seeking to rescue and do all they can for all of humanity. This sure gives us an eye opener and perhaps can trigger us to prepare too, just in case something unexpected happens and we too are caught unaware and unprepared. Maybe making an emergency kit, for just in case, is a good idea. strike rapierSep 2, 2005, 11:03pm

As nice as the sentiment is, if you want to do something; ensure someone
like Bush never gets in again, that way that person wont half the funding to the flood protection schemes again. -- - Mark Randall http://zetech.swehli.com "Those people that think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do" Isaac Asimov jim1Sep 3, 2005, 12:13am
Cut our losses. Reverse the flood. Save us from more destruction.

Save the Bush bashing and hatred Marky. This isn't the time or place for
it. People in this community have family, friends, or where themselves caught by this horrendous work of nature. Your bitching and moaning won't save the world. Actions do. Perhaps you would like to make a contribution to the Red Cross? I think many people just do not realize the magnitude of the affected area and number of people that need help. 90,000 square miles. Put all of England under water, damage or destroy every structure in it, and displace every citizen, and you may understand why it wasn't all taken care of the day after. Our people will have the aid they need from our government and caring citizens. [View Quote] strike rapierSep 4, 2005, 1:26pm

Pretty much all of which could have been stopped if the Army got the funding
it needed; fact. PS: did'nt you leave a few weeks ago? -- - Mark Randall http://zetech.swehli.com "Those people that think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do" Isaac Asimov poseidonSep 4, 2005, 3:11pm
You really are too vicious for your own good. Unfortunately while things
could have happened, or should have happened, that is not the intent of the main post here. The intent is to establish a memorial site for the peoples lives that have been forever affected by this tragedy; we're not talking about Bush here, nor is that sentiment appreciated right now. It is not the time, or the place for it. Poseidon [View Quote] strike rapierSep 4, 2005, 4:38pm
I most certainally remember and feel sorry for those who have died in this
terrible event. I will also remember who killed them. -- - Mark Randall http://zetech.swehli.com "Those people that think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do" Isaac Asimov [View Quote] strike rapierSep 4, 2005, 4:40pm

Yes, that was vicious, mild appologies to anyone offended by this, however
my statements are simply based off international news, which we presume is the truth - and not just some big fake. Anyone still in there, good luck to you, not that you will probably be reading this. -- - Mark Randall http://zetech.swehli.com "Those people that think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do" Isaac Asimov |
