I'm looking into learning how to model again. Editor of choice: Notepad.
However... I need a viewer.
....
one that works.
You see, right now, I have a slight problem: I downloaded about five RWX
model viewers. However, none of them work -_- and by not working, I mean I
'open' an object (pp01.rwx in this case, quite simple). in RWXmod, it says
it can't display a preview and that I should check my textures directory...
I have my textures directory set up in a local copy of Alphaworld's Object
Path (I complemented my AWE expansion pack with ALL textures and ALL
models). So, my textures directory is correct. I doubleclick or click open,
and I see the display window... ...with nothing in it. It doesn't display
objects! This is very disheartening :( I would like to see what I'm working
on before trying to uh.. 'upload' it. And by 'upload' I mean put it in the
local path and temporarily replace an object that already exists >_> one I
don't ever use or something. That's a lot of trouble to go to, y'know...?

So, Are there ANY renderware model viewers out there that can, say, tell me
what lines errors are on or whatever, or even one where I can see a
graphical representation of what I'm trying to work on? Yeah, I'd ... really
appreciate that o.o;

Thanks

Try here if you haven't already
http://www.tnlc.com/rw/files.html

If that doesn't work, try AccuTrans 3D or even TrueSpace 3 (version 3 is
freeware).

[View Quote] RWXMod needs to have the textures in BMP format.

I hav to agree about the Accutrans use to some degree, but as far as
telling you what line an error is on that's a tough one in that reguard.
I don't think i've seen one that has that ability. in the past ive
worked with a few diffrent modelers, but never really got it all done in
notepad from scratch. i usually started in a standard 3d modeler then
converted to rwx with accutrans and cleaned it up from there. mainly due
to complexity of some of the objects i've made in the past.
( call it a lazyness to type or a lack of understanding fully how to do
uvw mapping by hand maybe heheheh )
