the creation of the CY Awards, 2005. Also included is very important
information for Active Worlds based news and media interested in registering

Importance is only relevant to those that care. Not that I am a cy award
material quality modeler or anything but since you are doing it strike count
me out. Might just be me but your arrogance really puts me off. Goes for
the bot too, I could careless if its the best bot ever. I would never
condsider using it. Again, might just be me.

You are, of course, welcome to be as immature as you want and make useless
posts underneith information for the community. I hope however that it will
be dropped before entering CYAwards for the actual show, should you partake.

Everyone else who DOES want to help create the best show AW has ever seen, I

Not copying anyone.

I am capable of original thought and independent expression, just find young
mark's attitude less than desirable. His perpetual posturing like a small
dog makes me laugh. Calling everyone that says anything differing from his
narrow minded, obviously young and inexperienced world view, immature. I
have read the NG's for at least as long as they have been around. He has
proven himself over and over an annoying ankle biter and wanna be. He is
doing the cy's? Yeah right, there goes what little credibility they had.
I'm sure the event will be atleast as pleasant as he is.

Again this is my opinion, I could care if anyone agrees with me.

*laughing here* and I agree.... I don't care who thinks this or that about
what I apologized for.. since no one seems to read what's really being said
much at all. I certainly didn't apologize for my feelings about how the
CY's are being handled. These kids think all they have to do is come up and
twist things around in the NGs or in public. They can be vicious and nasty.

When I wasn't responding by posting to the NGs I was being harassed at the
gate being called vulgar names by RossyBoy and others.. he'd go to the gate
and say things like "ORB IS A FUCKING BITCH' and get ejected..then come
back and do it all over again... if it wasn't him it was Strike or Gnu or
one of their minions LOL .. sooooo now you know the rest of the story. I
dont' bow down and give in just because some twit twists reality. Frankly
CY's are more meaningless now than ever. Oh but I plan on getting attacked
as soon as I'm at the Gate by one of them LOL ! What a bunch of assholes.

Guys Guys Guys...

This is a CY information thread, lets not have another flame war going on
here - I thank the people who have defended me as of late but holster your
rocket launchers please.

It is fair to say that clearly 2 or 3 of the women have a serious problem
with me - 2 of which I cannot actually ever remember meeting for any length
of time; and that they will attempt to make everything I do as difficult as
they possibly can.

But here is the thing; by doing that in the way that they are they are
causing damage, it is not so much harming me (because I can understand, some
people just want to be out to get me) but they are harming others, and
ultimately harming the community because.

Speaking in CY terms, it will take me, personally, a quite enormous amount
of time to do my part for it. Does me being willing to do this make me a bad
guy? I don't think so, neither (from other comments I have seen) does the
majority of the AW user base. It is simply a few people determined to make
things difficult - and that's good support to have when undertaking a
project of this size.

I am apparently seen by some as 'the leader of the kids' and while it is
true that I am somewhat centralised in the younger section of the AW user
base it is not me saying 'call these people idiots' and them following, its
the opinion that these people have come to on their own - if you insult them
every other line what more do you expect than them to react violently,
especially in defence of their friends?

It is also very clear that people are not thinking about what they post on
occasions, the example having to be ORB repeating something Rossy said (that
admittedly I wish he had not in AWGate), and then 5 lines further down
herself calling half the AW population ar53h0les. This of course suggests to
me that its just blatant abuse throwing and that there is absolutely no wish
whatsoever to act better than these people who she apparently despises.

I want to now get on with these projects, I want everyone who can to apply
to help us because it will be a lot of work, if need be let this thread
serve as a reminder that some people would rather not have the CY's return,
and how those people voice their opinion.

I would appreciate it if those who would accept my advice lowered their
stinger missiles, and when people do feel an urge to attack me, the CY's, or
any one of you - that they are ignored and left to fall by the wayside
because I assure you - we are moving on to make AW better and anyone who
would rather harm this progress will be left behind by the side of the road
where they cannot disrupt it it.

At the end of the day, if people hate me they hate me, but that is a
personal feeling and those people should not attempt to force that opinion
upon others. That is how it should be.

And that is what I have to say upon the matter. I most sincerely hope this
post isn't followed up by 10 pages of insults and counter insults.

And gnu32 it does matter, it is a statement of character. Flawed. So he can
make a web page .. what 10 year old can't?

Is he a world owner? I have no idea but I doubt it.

Is he qualified to do anything but slam other peoples contributions or
thoughts? I think not. At least that has been the jest of his posts to
date. I think that, previous positng record, is a fair measure of the
quality of an individuals character and that persons worthiness to represent
anything to do with a community.

Okay, everyone, please knock it off. You all guys, not just ORB and Aura
Lily but also everyone included, need to stfu.

I thought the whole dispute was resolved already. Well, it appeared it's
not. Aura Lily just had revived the flames. Shame on you, Aura Lily.

ORB, please, stop capitalizing the entire content of your writing in some of
your posting. It make you look more immature. In fact, you shouldn't CAPS
all of your posting if you truly have a serious problem with Strike Rapier.

Also... Activeworlds Inc. would recommend that you two and everyone else
drop it. If you have a problem, just email abuse at activeworlds.com. I think
that the fact you are putting your complaints in the newsgroup instead of in
email message to Activeworlds Inc. is not wise.

Please, take your personal quibbles out of this damned newsgroup. I
personally am fed up with all of your lame and baseless attempts to turn the
public against a person.

The complaints are private and should not be personally released to the
public.

In very least, I'm prepared to write a letter of complaint to Activeworlds
Inc. in case you all don't drop it. I will hope that Activeworlds Inc. take
care of this garbage crap that fills up the newsgroup. If I were an advisor
to Activeworlds Inc., I'd recommend that they delete all of this garbage
crap and to moderate this newsgroup more tightly.

I may be the person who find flame wars funny but this case is no longer
funny and, actually, I never found it funny from the beginning. The thing is
that it is more of ANNOYING.

Also, the whole flame wars of this is in violation of the Newsgroup Charter
and also violates the Active Worlds Code of Conduct and perhaps also Code of
Content (although I doubt about the last one).

I would personally recommend that Activeworlds Inc. take action and
disciplines the violators in this newsgroup and therefore moderates it more
tightly.

I have noticed that the moderation of this newsgroup is very loose, which is
not satisfying to me. I think personally that Activeworlds Inc. must tighten
its moderation of the newsgroup and to prevent any cases like this.

I suggest that ALL OF YOU quit being a bunches of stupid pricks and DROP IT
NOW.

I don't care if you tell me to filter you out because I think I shouldn't
have to. Filtering you all out is just a waste of time.

Strike Rapier just posted a posting about newsletter and yet you posted
accusation shit? That is not relevant to the thread.

I'm sorry, but you guys disappointed me and the community. THAT IS NOT THE
WAY ACTIVE WORLDS COMMUNITY SHOULD BE.

I have not been out of bounds in anyway. Community discussion is a way to
effect change. I have been stating my opinion, based of historical record
provided here in the ng's. If for a minute you think his previous posting
record and inability to be civil towards anyone should be forgotten and that

My opinion is that strike should not be allowed to participate in the cy in
anyway due to his past posting activity here in the NG's

Personally, I'm glad SOMEONE stepped up to the plate regarding the Cy's. Sad
to say this, but it's true... alot of adults these days have more important
things to do in RL and can't spend as much time and effort it takes to
organize the Cy's (referring to people who need to devote their time to
their kids and spouses, not to mention work to make ends meet) I'm sure you
will do a great job, Mark. I am behind ya 100% in this, even though I'm not
sure what I can do to help. I DO support and applaud your efforts to make
the Cy awards something all of the AW community can be proud of. It's a
shame not all of the community has the courage to do it and it's a shame
mudslinging has become intertwined with something as positive as the Cy's.
These awards should be bringing our community together in peace. Not
creating a battleground between "adults" and "kids". Same goes for the ngs.
This world has enough to worry about. The Cy's stand for something.....

There should have been elections .. if it's a community oganization the
community should have had a chance to be involved in deciding who is right
for the position. This was all done without anyone prior knowledge to
inform those who do care about what this committee represents. Mark isn't
right for the position. His past record of how he handles things in the
NewsGroups and other public places such as the Gate are good enough examples
of why he's not right for the position.

Would you like to elaborate on which kids you are talking about?
I'm a 15 year old teenager. I work full time, and am entering a
traineeship for Barista' ism at the end of the year.
I own a World, Have a great circle of friends in AW. Help out with AWNews,
SupportAW, a DJ for AWRadio and, Supporting the new CYAwards.

You've offended me, and no doubt many other under 18's, by saying what your
saying. Yes I know, there are complete pillocks in AW that are under 18,
but, thats probrably only 10% of the under 18's that are genuine 'Pillocks'.

Now, if you ask me, you are acting quiet STUCK UP by saying this. Most
"kids" are very Friendly, ***PRODUCTIVE***, and very nice to be with in AW.
So, you need to accept the fact, that, 15 Year Olds will be involved deeply
in the CYAwards this year, and next, next, and for a long time. Becuase
we're the future of AW.
And if you don't like even the SOUND of 16 or 17 year olds running the
Technical Side and the Interaction side of the CY's, run for your life.

Personally, if your complaining about "KIDS" in AW being "A bunch of

example. Maybe you should also, accept AWGate isn't all yours and isnt just
a home for the 40+ people.

Rather sad when just a few the speak so loudly and so often that it seems
like they are the majority.

Perhaps if you read all of her posts you might see that she said ..

Note the word "SOME".

The same goes for having a 16 or 17 year old run the cy's. It would be
great if someone productive and less likely to have a hissy-fit and start
swearing. Or perhaps one or even a group that sees the ng's as a place to
exchange ideas and gather information, And not as a personal soapbox to
slam the thoughts and contribution of others.

And you are right ry, most kids are fun and friendly people. Some of us
adults are ok too.
