The ActiveWorlds Community,
Letter of Notice
Invitation of Annual Invite Day!

Hello, Everyone!
This year will be the first Annual Invite Day of
ActiveWorlds.
Happening on the 1st of June, 2005, Myself and SupportAW (www.supportaw.com)
ask you to join in with A.I.D. (Annual Invite Day) to help 'Aid
ActiveWorlds'.

We All, hopefully, know the story of when AW's User Count, and reputation,
was sunken wrongly due to the Increase in Price, other Virtual Universes,
and
different Programs came on the horizon. ActiveWorlds was given a bad name,
when, infact, nobody even thought to think that ActiveWorlds is, infact a
great program, with great people. This is where the 1st of June comes in.

We wish, for the ActiveWorlds community (Citizens AND Tourists), on the 1st
of June 2005, to invite to AW their friends and family. And let them know,
what a great Community ActiveWorlds really is, and of course, how fun it is
too!

For A.I.D., we will be using the Invite Form from SupportAW.com, which will
be up shortly.

Please stay tuned to AWNews.org and SupportAW.com for further details
including URL's to the invite area on or around the 20th of May. I would
like to take this time to thank SupportAW for helping make this project more
Do-able.
SupportAW will be releasing a statement about A.I.D. shortly, so stay tuned
to www.supportaw.com

Thank for your time,

Ry

Remind me, is there tourist building in AW world yet? Prehaps AWI can enable
tourist building in AlphaWorld, just so the invited do not think this is
some pre-built chat.
They should enable it from 12AM from the first timezone which reaches that
time and disable it again when the last timezone reaches that time the
following day, therefore everyone getting a good go.

Also, throw me some work, I need something to do desperately. Just telegram
Equin0x -- maybe if you can turn some heads at the AWI offices, they can
give you some world to actually help those who are invited, as the Gate
isn't well documented on what people can do.
Everyone I talk to believes theres nothing to do in AW as they have no idea
that it is so limitless with what they can do.

I've emailed AWI asking if they will do such things for the time of June
1st, no reply yet.

Enabling tourist build in AW is a very very bad idea
However the rest of it, Excellent, hope we get a decent amount of people

I can see the very happy faces of vandilisers X_X
Probably just overreacting, but that could still happen

Alphaworld is 32,750 cords outward N, S, E, W, which is 65,500 x 65,500
cordinates squared. I don't think any human being would be willing to sit
that long holding control and insert. If they did any vandalising (oh no!)
nobody would ever come close to finding any, and, tourist builds are
deletable :P We should be more worried about citizens vandalising rather
then future customers.

Yep, and what about back in the days when tourist build was always on?
There wasn't that much of a problem back then... so why would there be
one now? And like Matt888 said, there is lots of space, so there really
is no big deal to having it on for a day or so. I think it would make
things better rather than worse.

Most, if not all vandalism I saw before they cleaned the place up was all
done by citizens. Could be the fact that they cleaned all the tourist ones,
but still.

X_X at Forgetting take size in account, but its possible there would be
the usual Tourist Vs Citizen falling out and one's build getting
vandilised. Also the possibility of experimenting and managing to
squeeze things into cracks of unclaimed space around AWGZ
Although it won't matter if the PK's were to treat the day so much as an
important day a whole team would need to watch over (Although only the
core or the best ones,we won't want a team of dodgy PK's getting angry
over a little thing in chat or deterring away potential customers) So
that they can deal with such problems

what would be the need for PKs either? just let them build for a day, and
take it off at the end of the day. it will be just a normal day, except
tourists can build. nothing special about it really, nothing that needs any
extra precautions.
fact is, anything you can do as a tourist, can be done as a citizen, except
if you build as a citizen, it's not easily deleted.

I am waiting for someone to assign me some community task.
I've got quite the expierence, with the AW software and computer-tech
itself.
I've also helped out with many other universes.

What? Someone from AWI? You have to call them up and talk to them in
person (and get past the phone screener) so they know you're really
interested. Being qualified is a different matter. Hope you're that too.
:P

AWNews, too. :) volunteer at awnews.org

omg at you guys making a big deal out tourist vandalization. The most petty
offense in AW it, who the hell cares :P
Can delete it in 2 seconds you, and, its a sign to actually maybe protect
your property.

complaining about their unprotected vandilised builds =P
