I just purchased a world and have an Actiontec DSL modem. I can't click on
anything in my world nor see anything that's not greyed out in world options but the world runs and is on the list but doesn't show me when I am in it. Anyway of fixing this problem? brockMar 6, 2004, 12:44pm
you have to add yourself to the build rights list. as to your not in the
world list problem, do you give the world time to refresh the userlist? -- Brock, IceFlare Network Founder/Administrator http://www.iceflare.net [View Quote] makiMar 6, 2004, 4:17pm
Check for firewalls. I experienced this problem when first trying to host a
world, and I still cannot because of my DSL modem. I could not seem to access it, but others could. Turned out there was a NAT firewall built in to my DSL modem, and since, I have gotten a newer model that is supposed to allow you to disable it, but cannot to this day. If you know the port(s) the AW server uses and whether they're either TCP or
UDP, you might try adding those port(s) to the "Ports Forwarding" list in your router's setup. You'll also need to assign the AW server computer a fixed IP outside the DHCP server range (set in the router). Then go to the "port forwarding" setup in your router and add the AW server ports used and assign those to the new, permanent IP of your AW server computer. Good luck. It'll most likely be a software issue. If it was something to do with
the DSL it's basically an all or nothing thing; either everything works or nothing works. If you have a firewall that could be interfering. Are you hosting it yourself? This may seem like a very silly obvious thing to ask but have you put your citizen number as Caretaker? [View Quote] > I just purchased a world and have an Actiontec DSL modem. Yes, I was able to come in on a dialup connection
with the server and it allowed me to enter the world features/Options. [View Quote] colors1Mar 9, 2004, 4:32am
Yes I did add the ports used and the IP of my
computer, Andras has written on this matter extensively and still cannot get it to work. Well by coincidence I had my local cable company call and ask if I I want cable, I am going to try it out and see if that doesn't solve the problem, lol Seems DSL ain't all it's cracked up to be. Could you please post the model number of your Actiontec DSL modem. Do you
connect your computer directly to this modem or do you connect to the modem through a router or hub? [View Quote] |
