Here's how I see it: In AlphaWorld, it takes longer for people to discover
a tourist town. Therefore, tourists have a longer amount of time to make a
larger town and establish more stuff. Then, when the deleters come along,
they are *extremely* frustrated that they got their huge down deleted, so
they want to prevent it by subscribing. This is not the case in other
worlds, because they can't build enough stuff (in time before the deleters
come) to be as affected enough by getting their building deleted to
subscribe. If you were a tourist, and you just got little builds deleted,
you would assume that that's all AW can offer. If you establish a large
tourist town in AlphaWorld, you will see what it is like to have a
mini-community, and you will be even *more* eager to subscribe if you have
such a creation, like a mini-community, deleted.

The way I see it, tourist building in AlphaWorld would boost revenue for
AWI.

I agree. Tourists can go into Alpha World now, but they can't really *do*
anything. It reminds me of a starving man with no money, looking through the
window of a restaurant.

I can see where AWI would use tourist access to Alpha World as a sort of
"teaser". Get the tourist *hungry* to build. Alpha is the largest and most
well known of all the worlds in AW, but, well, I don't know. <shrugs>

If I had a degree in marketing I might be able to fix all of AWI's woes.
LoL!!!!

Whatever it takes.

I wouldn't call myself an opinionted person, but for matters important like
this, I think its good to get some feedback and some ideas.
First, I think Ferruccio's idea is somewhat legimate, but not the same for
everyone. When I was a tourist alot of my stuff was deleted like others, but
I actually started small towns and things with other tourists and I became a
cit and decided to start many tourist towns.
So I would outline plots for tourists to build in, and I kept it secret
among other tourists and I had about 10 there and was alot of fun. Funny
thing, 6 of those 10 tourists became cits within the next 2 months, all
eager to start their own town.
Like I said, I am not a professional at anything, but I think maybe just a
few good role models in areas of mayoring, building, or whatever could help
inspire other tourists. My buildings inspire alot of people I am told, so If
I can inspire citizens, then surely any of us can inspire tourists in other
areas correct?

Without tourist building in AlphaWorld, none of those inspiring people will
be able to show themselves to the potential subscribers. If tourist
building ever gets enabled, perhaps an organization of people willing to
help start secret tourist towns in AW could rapidly increase the userbase.

I get it now...
Yeah, what was AW thinking? Basicly, their 'Builds will be protected' sign
shouldnt be up their in Alphaworld...

I think re-enabling tourist building in AlphaWorld would be an interesting
experiment to see what happens with the userbase. Of course, it's been over
two years since tourists were no longer allowed to build there, so it will
have to be advertised in some way.. if it isn't through word of mouth. I
think it's worth a try..

AWGate, one sentence:
'Tourist building now welcomed in AlphaWorld!'
Experiment begins.

Back to square one. How will we convince AWI that this is an
experiment worth trying? They would likely just ignore this thread, and
treat it as trifle.

Don't forget tourists now actually have to change their browser settings
just to get into AlphaWorld... what a stupid idea that was...

AlphaWorld's new rating is PG-13, while the default browser doesn't go up to
that setting. Talk about user-friendly :P baad move AWI, but I doubt you'll
do anything to fix that eh?

Or swap those words around... in a lab rat... just imagine waking up to
find some crazy scientist switched your body with a rat's.
