AWNews.com Domain Name (Community)
AWNews.com Domain Name // Community
Sep 19, 2002, 11:21am
This was sent to me from our dear Beardo:)
Hi Bit! :-)
I can't answer in the ng since my citizenship has expired but you all
have my support if needed! I hope this goes your way and that they soon
will release the domain name too Goob. AWNews.com is the best source for
information about AW besides the ng's.
Best regards to you and the Community! :-)

By the way, amke sure you take a screenshot of that price hike *right now*,
then email it to yourself as well as others - good evidence that they are
playing foul for the courts.

Actually, they didn't jack anything, since they hadn't posted a price
when I first contacted them. After I had essentially told them where to
stuff their $1,250 offer, they then posted the $10,000 asking price.
This was all before I posted here to the NGs and ABP started this
crusade, so I'm sure the only effect the emails have had is to prove to
MWD that the awnews.com domain really is worth $10,000, and that I'll
cough up that kind of dough "for the community". :-/

Just goes to show that we'd definitely have to get a trademark on AWNews
if we were ever going to be successful in this. :-/

Goober King
$325 for a $35 domain?...
robrod at prism.net
Sep 19, 2002, 6:25pm
I think this companies site is associated in some way maybe as main hoster
or something?
and this url mentions in their policies under disputes;
Section 4.2.1. Circumstances indicating that you have registered or you have
acquired the domain name primarily for the purpose of selling, renting, or
otherwise transferring the domain name registration to the complainant who
is the owner of the trademark or service mark or to a competitor of that
complainant, for valuable consideration in excess of your documented
out-of-pocket costs directly related to the domain name; or
http://iaregistry.com/dispute.html
Sep 19, 2002, 6:30pm
Goobs...your getting offers.
I personally would go for it:)
I would love to help out financially, but right now all I have is time:(

That's what I mentioned in my If You Insist post. MostWantedDomains.com
bought the awnews.com domain through the registrar IARegistry.com. It's
Dispute Policies are almost identical to those on register.com's, the
registrar Cybor originally used to register the awnews.com domain.

You cannot get trademarks unless you are selling something. However you can
probably claim to be a non-profit one-man organization, in the same way that
Worldwide Media Inc or whatever its called a for-profit one-man
organization. I'll post some info about trademarks on the newer thread.
