Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Well I hope the Beta comes out sooner than that because I just installed DirectX 8.1 and as a result, not only do I not have a functioning webcam (though the cam itself still works), I also don't have a way to render the graphics (yes, I'll admit a 3D Graphics Card would cure this problem, but it's not like I can just go out and buy one like yesterday). And since Aw has conviently cut off ALL support for 2.2 (BRILLIANT idea guys - NOT!), I can't even LOG ON to AW (3.2 just sits there looking dumbfoundingly confused like everything else I have which requires the usage of DirectX forcing me to do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and END TASK to close the program). The return of support for 2.2 would be an excellent idea as a backup because AT LEAST I could log on to AW for chatting (wouldn't do much for my 3D Homepage building, but hey...). But alas, Corporate America doesn't believe in providing support for something old once they've already cut it off. :-( Life's rough. Life's tough. But we all somehow manage to get over it. :-) Cheers for now everyone... :-) Patrick Cook Owner - Pub 102X pchamster at msn.com Denver, Colorado bowenJan 26, 2002, 9:27pm
Hey try to use this aworld.ini instead of the one you have now.

According to Roland (this info dates from a Tech Talk a while back, since
there haven't been any for a while) AW management want the beta to start about now... Roland didn't agree, so I don't know what's happening now, but I seriously doubt it will take as long as that. KAH [View Quote] nornny11Jan 26, 2002, 9:55pm
Knowing the pressure Roland is under by his upper cheeses who managed to
frustrate every user and staff, I wouldn't discount the rumor that 3.3 is coming out next month, when the new pricing plan is in place. In a way, it'd kind of make sense (one of the reasons why I don't believe it. lol) to update the browser if you want to update the entire user base. Why would people sit around paying 10 dollars a month for a version they paid 20 a year for that's almost a year old? I think it's a year old, seems like an eternity for me. lol. You get the point, I think they're trying to rush it, which is bad news for any program. Nornny [View Quote] sw chrisJan 27, 2002, 5:09am
Let me guess, you're trying to run it at 120 m vis on a 386 with 32 MB of
RAM in DirectX mode, right? =P If you can get to the options screen, turn DirectX mode off and use software mode instead. SW Chris [View Quote] pc hamsterJan 27, 2002, 5:32am
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Tried it. Didn't work. :-( Thanks for trying to help though... :-) Patrick pc hamsterJan 27, 2002, 5:40am
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Nope. I have a Pentium 166 with 64 MB of RAM and WinBLOWS 98 (original edition). A couple friends of mine thought it sounds like a video driver issue (which I'm inclined to agree). I have an ATI TV Wonder (PCI version) with the latest drivers straight from the ATI website. > =P If you can get to the options screen, turn > DirectX mode off and use software mode instead. That's the way I had been running it all along, but as it stands now, I can't get past the bitmap image which says that Internet connections are being established. It just freezes up there. Does that help??? Patrick Cook Owner - Pub 102X pchamster at msn.com Denver, Colorado kahJan 27, 2002, 12:19pm
hmmmm, 166MhZ sounds painfully low to me... I'm unlucky enough to run 233MhZ
MMX (gives a small extra boost) and AW often runs pretty slow... ESPECIALLY 3.2, I never had such lag and problems with 3.1. Also, many problems disapeared when I bought a new hardware accelerator :-)) I suggest you get a GeForce (GF2 will probably be best for your system, I'd suppose) card, they're good and many are pretty inexpensive :-)) KAH [View Quote] bowenJan 27, 2002, 4:25pm
Maybe it freezes because it's loading up the windows ;) it takes a little
while even for me to load them up on my 733 MHz machine. Give it a minute or two, it might work. --Bowen-- [View Quote] sw chrisJan 28, 2002, 3:11am
He doesn't even get to the main window. So it can't be a video problem
(yet). Are you sure you're not behind a firewall or something? SW Chris [View Quote] kahJan 28, 2002, 4:50pm
