What can I say but excellent. The staples seem to be floating and it lacks depth in the cuts but I just know you already have this sorted...:D |

It looks like the main lighting is centered on his left ear so it stands out too much. The ear needs some texture improvements.
The lips need work, cracks etc.
He needs stubble.
This would make a great "Swingline" ad. |

Thanks guys.......
The staples seem to be floating and it lacks depth in the cuts but I just know you already have this sorted...
Yep, leave it to me :D
The ear needs some texture improvements.
The lips need work, cracks etc. Bob... please... I'm offended that you could think that the lips and ear are finished textures;):D Nothing is finished yet least of all the ears and lips. When I'm texturing a head I firstly cover the whole model with a tiling skin texture to start as a base from which I build on. Everything except around the eyes & nose is still this base texture. Stay tuned my friend all will be revealed in time.
I think I would try eyes at the camera.. yep, I think I will (but I might hold fire until the textures are done.) Thanks

Mouse this is fantastic work !
I agree with Paul on the point of the staples but this is only due to the fact
that the staples dont cast any shadows on the skin 1
But that can be fixed in postpro !
otherwise it looks great !

Believe me I'm not cutting up your work, that is being done by you! LOL and then some :D
OUCH!!!! Thats gotta hurt!
Its been a little while since the last update but I've not been slacking off :D
This is about it for the color texture. I've still got the bump map to do which is why some things are in relief that should be raised
and some raised that should be in relief, the lips are too smooth and there are not enough wrinkles around the eyes, but its one step closer.
Hopefully I've got those staples to 'sit down' into the render, Yes? Splinters/Rayman ? and the cuts have more depth?
I've also posted a snap of the texture map and a close up so that you can see a bit more of the detail.
Comments and crits are most welcome.

Super duper work. There seems to be a slight glitch under his ear though.
Really looking forward to the finished render now...:D
You are indeed a texturing master Madmouse.

Another superlative bit of texturing, as expected... amazing work, as always! Curious to see the how the final setting gets handled - guess it still needs to be a fairly close shot so we get to see all that lovely detail (especially challenging at 800x600!) |

Am amazing picture. Your texturing skills are really superb. I would love to see a tutorial on how you cut and paste textures from skin and wounds and whatever to get the final texture.
looking at the staples I feel sorry for the guy. In surgery staples are applied on tissue that is lifted a bit so that the staple enters from both sides and then also folds together. Here the staples are obviously jammed in with a staple gun, like in building constructions. No wonder he looks a bit distracted!

I think you lost something with the teeth. The previous version looked better, like they "used" to have enamel. Now they look flat and made of iron.
When I'm not getting violently ill I enjoy looking at this rendering,...which makes me violently ill...:D |

This image is absolutely disgusting. The raw wounds and tortured look is at a new level of disturbing.
Well done!!

Sorry Bob. Been a bit busy with helping my daughter with a project. I'll be back on this ASAP:D
Thanks to everyone else for the kind comments on the last post.
I think you lost something with the teeth.
Yep, I think your right Bob. As soon as I get back to this I'll sort it out. Thanks
Till then ATB

Well I'm finally back working on Frankie.
Got the bump map finished and I thought it was a good example of the importance in not just using a desaturated colour map for the bump map.
Although the difference is subtle it is worth while as now things like scabs are raised instead of sunken, and likewise the stitching on the scars,
staple holes are more pronounced, the lips are now cracked to a greater extreme and generally all details are more defined.
If you can be bothered to :), its a good example if you copy the two images into your paint program of choice as 2 layers and then swap between
the two to really see the difference a custom bump map can make.
comments and crits are most welcome guys.
Hopefully I'll be back with a colour version tomorrow.

Outa curiosity...how do you manage to get the eyes with that level of realism?...never seems to work for me
But that bump mapping is sweet, I honestly thought you'd already done it |

Outa curiosity...how do you manage to get the eyes with that level of realism? Stay tunned.......;)
So this, as promised, is the full colour version with bump map and layered skin texture to add gloss to the gooey bits.
Thats about it for frankie, now its on to a background for him ready for the final reveal:D
Comments and crits are most welcome.
