AWHS has done an excellent job assuring protection against deletion of NAC
property and many other things.

What policy and/or plan is in place for preservation of builds so that
future generations of the first AW Citizens and others can expect to see
things exactly as they were meant to be seen?

Why were the old graffiti type pans done away with?

What about preservation against texture, color changes, etc.?

Take for example Little Bull's cottages that he built with pans. The color
has changed on the outline of some of the pieces. The cottages don't look
as good as they once did because of the mismatch of color outlines. When I
build with a light blue texture tomorrow, I'd like to come back 50 years
from now and still see the same texture, not a replacement white stone. How
is it better to replace a texture than to just add another to the index?
When I go to the store to buy brick walk stones for the front of my house, I
don't expect the company I bought it from to come to my house 4 years later
and replace it with another texture they think will be nice.

Some of us are picky about the colors and textures we use to build. Please
honor that and consider giving us the original pans
(including the original matching roofs and graffiti alpha world wall) and
not mismatched colors, different windows, replacements. My request isn't
meant to be a burr in the side of whoever replaced the old pans with
existing ones we see today; however, after comparing to Pops pan house in
!History, the replacement pans seem to have flaws and are not as good
quality.

If you won't consider my request because I'm a one in a million band wasting
citizen peon scrawling my request, then please do it for the first original
builders of Alpha World. As Grover's sign says, "btw, this was the first
Ever house in aw to use pans. And as far as I can tell, the oldest existing
structure." "I give up! Repairing this house is hopeless..."

Opinions? Flames? AWHS Spokesperson comment?

I don't work for Active Worlds. I was not one of the earliest builders in Alphaworld. This program had been going almost a year before I started building. That said, I couldn't agree with you more, Sinew. Textures should never have been changed in Alphaworld, imho. Add new ones, sure. Add other versions of the old ones, fine. But *add* them. Don't change the old ones.

And *this* is exactly the kind of thing I've been talking about all along! When AWCI
introduced their new high-res textures in AW, there was a flurry of back and forth
posts in here about how they should preserve the old ones and just add the new ones
separately. Several people even tried to gather petitions on the matter. Did it have
any effect? Absolutely not. And all because Rick & JP wanted AW to "look nice" for
the corporate suits who were previewing the program. Starting to get the picture?

As for AWHS, as far as I can tell, it's long since dead. Their website hasn't been
updated since June 4th, 2000, and the only indication that there's anything
historically related going on are Duskbat's Historical Recommendations in the
Newsletter! Please, correct me if I'm wrong here...

Still, even if AWHS were still a living organization, I doubt that they'd have much
say in getting the old textures back. They certainly didn't seem to have much effect
when they were changed in the first place all those months ago...

The AWHS is, for all intents and purposes, dead. M u n k u y used to be i=
n charge of it for a while but finally left after some conflict. I filled=
numerous garbage removal requests to get all land out to 100m (10 coordi=
nates) from GZ cleared and covered, which it is, so the building limit ra=
dius could be reduced from its current 100m radius back to at LEAST 80m l=
ike it was before this whole AWHS fiasco began YEARS ago (but since all t=
he land is covered out to 100m the radius is no longer required ANYWAY), =
but JP, according to Flagg and kellee, REFUSES to do it for no explained =
reason. I can only assume he's not reducing it out of spite towards me si=
nce I'm probably the only one making a big deal about because I have prop=
erty between 80m and 100m I haven't been able to edit in YEARS without ha=
ving to find an AWC employee temporarily drop the radius! It's VERY annoy=
ing having to do that and I want the radius dropped once and for all!

Correction, Laurie Ann made the pan house in !History with Pops pan display.
Pops did not build the house.

Although, according to those here, the AWHS is not as active as it once was,
I'd still be interested in joining, so am going to pursue that route.
