Well after installing new drivers for my graphics card and the new direct X,
I still have problems with AW crashing on me. This has only been happening
since the install of 3.1. I have a voodoo3 - 3000, 128 meg of ram and a
PIII - 500. Any ideas whats happening, I'm lost. Any help would be
appreciated.

Thanks, Crazy Canuck

Hrmm, a few things come to mind. What about temperture? If you haave
problems running other 3d accellerated programs, this is most likely the
issue. If you don't have any other 3d apps, try removing the chassis of your
case, and fooling any anti-case intrusion system installed on the case (if
any, they're rare, but exist). Then identify your video card (usually in an
AGP (brown) slot, but may be in a PCI slot (white)). If theres anything in
the slot directly below the card, move it now if you have space. Then, try
to figure out if your video chipset just has a heatsink or a heatsink and
fan. Boot the computer and try to run AW3.1. If you just have a heatsink,
try to lightly touch the heatsink (watch it, these things can get H O T
enough to melt skin) and if you feel heat before touching it, you're
overheating, or if when you touch it, it burns you, you're overheating and
sucking on your finger. If you also have a fan on there, try to touch the
back of the card instead. Same rules apply as above. If you're overheating,
for a couple dollars you can add more ventilation fans to your case (I
prefer an intake near the CPU and expansion cards and power supply and an
exhaust in the front of the case, but you may want to reverse this airflow
depending on the location of your power supply and how much it bothers you
to walk by your computer and get hit with a rush of hot air)

Try reinstalling your card driver AFTER DirectX. I have to do that when I
upgraded to DX8.

I have only had the problem with AW3.1 ..... 3.0 was fine. I also run
Truespace on the pc with no problems. I know the card gets hot, I may try
a fan to see if that helps a bit. Is 3.1 that more graphics intensive than
3.0? Thanks guys, I'll let you know if it helps any.
