you should scan for viruses... theres this one called "Microsoft Windows" it
comes in many flavors and revisions, and most virus scanners dont catch it, in fact most rely on the fact that you have that virus installed in order to run... I bet you that caused it... [View Quote] antigoneNov 5, 2002, 2:29am
Thanks Hal...I run Norton...but maybe I need another update of the viruses.
Appreciate the help:) ananasNov 5, 2002, 3:40am
I have read that some virus scanners delete the complete
mailbox when thy find certain viruses that they cannot clean. Oh, and never sleep while Outlook is running, it does strange things when it knows it's unattended. [View Quote] sw chrisNov 6, 2002, 7:35pm
Bits, er... antigone... sheesh that's gonna be hard to get used to. =P
More than likely your messages are just fine, sitting in their little dbx file where outlook express keeps the messages. So hopefully here's a solution to your problem. It worked with my aunt. Missing messages can also result due to corruption in the Folders.dbx file. Renaming any instances of this file and restarting Outlook Express will rebuild the Folders.dbx file(s) automatically.
