Hmmmm...anyone know why an inbox would self delete?
Took a nap...got up and everything in my inbox is gone?
/me thinking gnomes are dangerous thingys!!!!!!!!....:)

you should scan for viruses... theres this one called "Microsoft Windows" it
comes in many flavors and revisions, and most virus scanners dont catch it,
in fact most rely on the fact that you have that virus installed in order to
run... I bet you that caused it...

Thanks Hal...I run Norton...but maybe I need another update of the viruses.

I have read that some virus scanners delete the complete
mailbox when thy find certain viruses that they cannot
clean.

Oh, and never sleep while Outlook is running, it does
strange things when it knows it's unattended.

Bits, er... antigone... sheesh that's gonna be hard to get used to. =P
More than likely your messages are just fine, sitting in their little dbx
file where outlook express keeps the messages.

So hopefully here's a solution to your problem. It worked with my aunt.

Missing messages can also result due to corruption in the Folders.dbx file.
Renaming any instances of this file and restarting Outlook Express will
rebuild the Folders.dbx file(s) automatically.
