Does anyone know a program that allows passwords to be set on folders and/or
files to open them? It doesn't have to be anything special just something to
run int he background and do it's intended job. Trust me I HAVE tried
lookigb but its hard becuase there are so many programs in that category i
cant find one that does just this.

Thanks

The best solution would be to switch to Win2K/XP, convert your FS to NTFS and use the native EFS functionality which does just about everything you want with per user permissions. Another solution would be to use PGP or any of its clones to encrypt the contents of the folders. In general your queries should be for encryption programs if the above don't help you.

Hi there,

If your server/ftp site allows Cmod your folders 711 I think, this will
allow the relevant folders never to be listed.

Also remove object selection from your world, This will stop people from
getting the object names..

If you cant set up cmod, create a index.html page and drop this un each
folder.. If you cant code html I can create a index.html page that will
refresh to any url you wish.

For textures, if you can afford one buy a digimark from;
http://www.digimarc.com/register
you can watermark your textures with your own mark in case of "borrowers" or
in case of despute.

But in your original question cmoding stops listing, to password folders
will depend on your hoster facilities,,

Regards

Wiz

Um I was talking about regular folders in windows but thanks for the info
anyways. Is there anything that makes it so people can't open the folders
unless they type in a password but will still allow programs to view and
modify them?

What you're looking for would probably be PGP Disk.. I'm not sure where you
can find it anymore.

It creats a new partition on your hard drive, and all information is written
to it though this program. PGP Disk handels the mounting and unmounting of
the filesystem. For the partition to be used it must be mounted, which
requires a key. (this is strong encryption). After use, you can unmount it,
and the info will be totally unreadable.

Ok, then you'll want to upgrade to Win2000. Each user has their own folder
of settings and documents. You can store you stuff there, and only someone
with administrator privlages will be able to access it. All you do is log
off when you step away from the computer.
