renaming multiple objects (Wishlist)
renaming multiple objects // WishlisttivoloranApr 30, 2005, 5:56pm
I think a much needed feature is the abilty to rename multiple objects...the
simplest way would be that when multiple objects are selected and all of them have the same name then the object name box is not greyed out... a more complex way would be for multiple objects with different names..perhaps there could be a drop down menu in the place of the object name field and when a specific name is selected, the name is editable so that all selected objects with that name will be changed to the new name It is very time consuming to locate and rename each object individually......I know bots can do this, but I have no experience with bots and don't know if i could program one to do it orbMay 2, 2005, 7:25pm
To change file names for objects and images... First you need to realize
objects are on an object path in a storage webspace and are not stored within the ActiveWorlds program. 2nd: the objects need to get renamed and then reuploaded to that object path in order for you to see a new object or texture name. If you use an uploading utility such as an FTP program you can rename all the files in the storage webspace easily. Here are some free FTP programs... http://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Software/FTP_freeware/ Also, there are several freeware utilities for batch renaming files which will help. Yes, Strike, I did...I know how to rename objects and upload them. I am an
object maker of many years (not saying a great one, but I have done it a long time). I was talking about when the object selection dialogue box is present. [View Quote] sweMay 6, 2005, 9:25pm
ukkhhh, it's a modelerrr! :P
and ya, i think tivolorans idea would be great, would make things alot simplier, since now, when i want to change something, have to either delete, and rebuild everything, or change it one by one, which is really annoying. Too lazy to use a xelagot too and hell, i shouldn't need to! bots aren't there to make up for aw's features, they're simply there to compliment them. -SWE [View Quote] strike rapierMay 6, 2005, 10:46pm
