Profiles for citizens. You could add a section in the citizen attributes at
the bottom labeled "Profile". Could have like 200 characters and needs to be
censored. When you right click a cit in chat or on your buddy list an option
could be added called "View Citizen Profile". Just a thought.

no, about that many cits. since most those cits have, and not everyone will
use all that space, and still more who wont bother writing a profile, would
need 1gbs tops, and with that you'd have plenty of free space, just to be
safe.

DB's have 2 forms of string.
vchar, a set of bytes of the maximum length set out in every record and
padded out will nulls, or long / medium / short strings, where the data is
stored elsewhere with a 'start' position and a length, the short, medium or
long indicates how many bytes are used to store it be it 1, 2 or 4 bytes.
The latter would be the way to go obviously.... But if you get thousands and
thousands of people doing it all with huge profiles things get slightly
bigger.

Therefore, Activeworlds Inc. needs to set character-length limit. It also
goes with the fact that internet packet (I have no idea what that means but
I'm just guessing lol) has its limit. (Isn't packet a unit of information
that is transferred at a time from a device to another device on a network?
Perhaps it has a bit lower maximum limits if you considers 56k modem
standard (which is a bit common anyway considering its cheaper costs
compared to cable which I'm using now. Or so the press says)).
P.S. Why do I keep saying AlphaBit Phalpha's name twice? Hint: a word
beginning with b and ends with t. lol ;)

Now that brings up a security question. Hint: Children.
But of course, many parents either don't care or are just dumb about
computers. My parents never knew a lot about computers (they lived most of
their years without ever touching a computer until early 90's and only get
on computer less often (way MORE) than I do) and I managed to lie to them
about installing my games (SimCity 4: Rush Hour and The Sims with its
expansion pack) on my other computer that my parent told me to install on
THIS computer instead of THAT computer. Hehe. ;)

A packet is a packet is a packet, about 7100 characters... Of course you use
a protocol to make packets length pretty much irrelevant.

security is just something most people (especially you americans >_<, not so
much with europeans, though they are catching on) are overly worried about.
so what if someone a thousand miles away knows how old a child is, or what
city they live in? is there really that much of a chance that someone would
hunt them down, and use them as child sex slaves? really doubt it. i think,
when it comes to the whole security thing, just implement the feature, and
have it in the user liecense, that activeworlds is not responsible for what
they see, do, write, or what they allow others to see, etc.

nope aw profiles have w/e you want in them, you can make "name:, age: sex:,

ok, so since you can put whatever you want, it's really more of a comment

don't have to write about yourself.
