WISH - Universe Teleporting Abilities // Wishlistpc hamsterAug 25, 2003, 12:12am
Hi everyone:
this idea has been swirling in my head for the last several weeks. What if we had the ability to teleport from one UNIVERSE to another. Here's how it would work.... We know that if you click on the TELEPORT pull dowqn menu, it gives you a dialog box asking you what world and the coords. you want to teleport to, right?? Of course. MY idea would be to add a UNIVERSE field in that dialog box. In other words, let's say I wanted to teleport from my location on AlphaWorld in the AW Universe to a world on OuterWorlds. I would enter something like the following information.... INIVERSE: owuniv WORLD: owgate COORDS: 0N OE Using my present location on alphaWorld as an example, this information would take me from 4925N 176E on AlphaWorld in the AW Universe to the Ground Zero area of OWGate on the OuterWorlds Universe ALL WITHOUT SWITCHING BROWSERS!!!! Pretty cool, eh??? Comments anyone?? Cheers for now :-) PC Hamster Mayor - City Of Hamsterville Hamster Ground Zero Area - AW 5000N 272E NEW WEBSITE - http://hamsterville.tripod.com/ pchamster at comcast.net Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hi everyone:
[View Quote] But they could put each universe in sub-directories when it comes to things like the cache. contact list, etc. They could start by doing that. :-) Patrick --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. .... How? Universes don't have names. The contacts list problem is already solved since 3.3. joemanAug 25, 2003, 2:51am
By sending a universe name in the universe attributes, which would be from
one stored in its license file. :P But, other then that, this whole idea is insane... 90% of the browser would be needed to be reprogrammed for support of this... Probably the easiest way for this would be to have a simple login to the uniserver, get the world host and port, connect to the world, and then dump the connection to the universe, as it is unneeded. This does, however limit teleportation within that universe once you've entered a world. There really isn't any nice and clean way of doing this besides reprogramming major sections of the browser. -Joe [View Quote] ananasAug 25, 2003, 4:45am
Universes do have an identifier, host and port.
Separate directories would not be necessary for the art cache, just for property and a few files in the AW root. [View Quote] equin0x2Oct 13, 2003, 7:06am
