Maybe a follow option (would actually be help to the tour guides) that
allows you to follow a specific person like you can walk around freely in a
world, but as soon as the person you're following changes worlds, you go
with them. Sounded interesting.

this is kinda like what they have in MSN where you can browse the web with a
friend.

They had it in PowWow back in 1997, when I first tried Active Worlds. I don't know how old the feature was in there by then, but I know it was very popular. Of course, that was only with web browsing, not 3D worlds.
